The association’s chairman, Sazan Ibrahimi, said that the municipalities were not seeking preferential treatment, but respect for and implementation of the rights guaranteed to them by law.
Among the municipalities’ demands is compensation for obligations arising from collective agreements.
They are also seeking for retroactive payments for work experience to be covered by the central budget.
Another demand concerns a review of the education grant and the provision of funding for more than 3,100 teachers.
The municipalities are calling for an end to centralization and interventions that infringe on their powers.
They are also demanding accountability for the loss of EU funds and the reduction of the performance grant.
Among the demands presented is compensation for damage caused by floods and natural disasters since 2022.
Finally, the association is calling for the creation of a fourth grant for capital investments.
