After serious accusations of cyber attacks against Europe, France and Germany summon Russian ambassadors and warn of sanctions

Amid rising tensions between Moscow and the West, France and Germany have summoned the Russian ambassadors in Paris and Berlin. These actions come after claims that Russia has orchestrated a broad campaign of cyberattacks and hybrid operations targeting several European Union member states and Ukraine.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced that the Russian ambassador in Paris will be summoned in the coming days. He denounced what he described as a cyber campaign organized by the FSB, Russia’s secret service. Barrot stressed that they will publicly condemn a broad cyber campaign undertaken by Russia against at least ten European countries. He also announced that Paris will impose sanctions on nine individuals and four entities linked to these attacks.

In the same vein, Germany confirmed that it has summoned the Russian ambassador in Berlin to demand explanations regarding the suspected cyberattacks. The German Foreign Ministry described these actions as intolerable and warned that they will be followed by strict measures.

These developments come as the European Union foreign ministers are meeting in Brussels to discuss the 21st package of sanctions against Russia, while tensions between Moscow and the West continue to mount.
