On the 65th day of the demonstration outside the Prime Minister’s Office, protesters issued strong calls against the government. During her speech, activist Etleva Merko blamed the authorities for corruption and mismanagement and called for Prime Minister Edi Rama’s departure.

Merko said public funds had been squandered and the heads of institutions had begun their holidays at a time when Albania is facing wildfires and a host of other problems.
“While Albania is burning, there are no funds—they have been spent—and those in power have begun their holidays. Pensioners and people struggling to make ends meet are in the square. In what country in the world does a government face so many corruption allegations and not resign? This happens only in Albania,” she said.
The activist also highlighted the serious problems that, according to her, are affecting the justice system, education and healthcare, and called on the head of government to step down.
“Rama, resign and make way for the changes Albanians are waiting for,” the protester said.
