Abdixhiku reveals the six MPs who will not vote for Sejdiu and warns of measures

LDK Chairman Lumir Abdixhiku said that consensus had not been reached within the parliamentary group on Bekim Sejdiu’s candidacy for president. According to him, six MPs have made it clear that they will not support him in the vote.

Abdixhiku named Avdullah Hoti, Hykmete Bajrami, Armend Zemaj, Kujtim Shala, Arben Gashi and Janina Ymeri as the MPs who, according to him, had decided not to respect the decision of the LDK leadership.

After meeting with the parliamentary group, he warned that disciplinary measures would be taken against the MPs, while stressing that, at this stage, his main concern was the consequences this situation could have for Kosovo. “I should not be concerned now about the disciplinary aspect within the LDK, because that will come. I am more concerned about the consequences for Kosovo,” Abdixhiku said.

The LDK leader apologized to the people of Kosovo and said he had been unable to do more because of divisions within the parliamentary group. “I apologize to the people of Kosovo; this is all I could do. I could not do more—not with this parliamentary group, with these divisions, with this discord. I tried to put forward a dignified person against a party that had absolute ambitions,” he said.

Abdixhiku added that on the day the president is voted on, he would be in the chamber together with 12 MPs.
