89th day of protests, citizens demand Rama’s resignation and Balluku’s departure

The citizens’ protest enters its 89th day today. Citizens are expected to gather again to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, as well as a change in the country’s political direction.

The gathering will be held at Skënderbej Square, after which the protesters will march along the boulevard toward the Prime Minister’s Office.

Speeches will be delivered in front of the government building, where participants will express their dissatisfaction and concerns regarding government policies.

The resignation of Edi Rama remains at the center of the demands. The protesters’ platform also calls for the formation of a transitional government with a 12-month mandate, which would prepare the country for the next elections.

They are also calling for the repeal of several legislative initiatives which, according to them, harm the interests of Albanian citizens.

According to the organizers, the gatherings will continue in the coming days, and there will be no withdrawal until the demands raised are fulfilled.

Protest 88

The day before, citizens also gathered in front of the Prime Minister’s Office. After the speeches in front of the government building ended, a large number of protesters headed toward “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard to continue their march along the capital’s main thoroughfares.

Thousands of citizens filled the streets of Tirana with red-and-black flags and symbols, creating an intense atmosphere of resistance.

Strong chants against the majority and the prime minister were heard during the march. Chants such as “Your end has come!”, “Rama, resign!” and “Albania demands a revolution!” echoed through the city streets.
