876 kilograms of tobacco and 118,000 cigarettes suspected of smuggling seized in Prizren

Kosovo Customs units seized 876 kilograms of tobacco and 118,000 cigarettes during inspections carried out at several warehouses in Prizren, on suspicion that the goods had been smuggled.

The seized goods included 791 kilograms of packaged shredded tobacco and 85 kilograms of unpackaged shredded tobacco. In addition, 21,000 “Marble” cigarettes without excise stamps were found, along with 97,000 cigarettes bearing Bosnia and Herzegovina excise stamps but lacking excise stamps from the Republic of Kosovo.

The inspection was conducted on September 28, 2026, by units of the Anti-Smuggling Sector, following information obtained from the field. Customs investigators and the duty prosecutor were also present at the scene.

The person responsible for the premises where the goods were found was arrested and, on the prosecutor’s orders, remanded in custody.

The detained goods have been placed under customs custody and supervision, while the case is being investigated in cooperation with the competent Prosecutor’s Office.
