87 Days of Protests / Gathering Begins in Skanderbeg Square, Calling for Edi Rama’s Resignation

The civic protest has entered its 87th day today.

Citizens have gathered in Skanderbeg Square, from where they will begin a march along the boulevard toward the Prime Minister’s Office. Upon arriving in front of the government building, speeches are expected, during which protesters will present their concerns and dissatisfaction with the government’s policies.

The protesters’ main demand is Edi Rama’s resignation. Their platform also calls for the establishment of a transitional government with a 12-month mandate, which will prepare the country for the next elections.

Another of their demands concerns the repeal of several legislative initiatives that, according to the protesters, undermine the interests of Albanian citizens.

The organizers have announced that the gatherings will continue over the coming days and that the protest will not stop until their demands are met.
