A 67-year-old man with the initials B.S. from Bitola was detained by police officers from the Bitola Internal Affairs Department. According to a statement from North Macedonia’s Ministry of Interior, the arrest took place yesterday (16.08.2026) at 15:40.

He is suspected of starting a fire at around 12:35 on “4 November” Street in Bitola. The flames engulfed dry grass and wooden pallets located at his former warehouse.
The Ministry of Interior said the fire was brought under control and extinguished by a team from the Bitola Territorial Firefighting Unit, and that no one was injured. A team from the Bitola Internal Affairs Department inspected the scene, and once the case has been fully documented, the appropriate charges will be filed against the suspect.
