“4 million euros for a singer” / Protester: The fund was never released either for the earthquake or for the floods

During the opposition rally, a woman spoke out against the government’s decision to finance a concert by American artist Kanye West, stressing that the sum of 4 million euros would weigh on citizens’ taxes.

She said at the protest that the emergency fund had been made available for the organization of the concert, while comparing this move to what, according to her, had been a lack of financial support in the cases of the earthquake and floods.

“Today Edi Rama has unlocked the emergency fund to pay for Kanye West concert tickets. Every Albanian will pay 2 euros out of their own pocket for this concert, even if they do not attend,” she said.

According to the protester, public money should have gone to pensioners, the sick in hospitals and other groups in need, while she criticized the way the government has set its priorities.
