28-year-old arrested in Lezhë on suspicion of trying to run over and kill his partner’s mother

A 28-year-old man has been arrested by police in Lezhë after he was suspected of trying to kill his partner’s mother by hitting her with a vehicle and then fleeing the scene. The arrested man is Cuf Behi.

According to the initial investigative actions, the incident occurred at around 02:05 in the “Skënderbeg” neighborhood of Lezhë, where the young man had gone by car to pick up his partner.

At that moment, her family members came outside and, for reasons related to family relations, the 28-year-old is suspected of having struck his partner’s mother, citizen K. H., 43, with the vehicle, causing her bodily injuries. He then fled the scene.

Police said that the coded operation “Reagimi” was concluded with the capture and arrest in flagrante of citizen C. B., 28, a resident of Tirana.

According to the official statement, specialists from the Investigation of Crimes Against the Person Unit at the Lezhë Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with specialists from the Crime Investigation Unit of the Lezhë Police Commissariat and the “Shqiponja” Special Force Sector, undertook the actions that led to the conclusion of the police operation codenamed “Reagimi.”

Thanks to the immediate response and intensive police actions, the 28-year-old was located, apprehended and placed in handcuffs for the criminal offense of “Murder due to family relations,” remaining at the attempted stage.

The injured woman was taken to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, where she continues to receive medical assistance.

As material evidence, police seized the vehicle suspected of having been used in this incident.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Lezhë for further action.
