25th Anniversary of the Ohrid Agreement: Diplomats Give Ali Ahmeti a “Cold Shower

More than 20 representatives of the diplomatic corps attended the central ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the Ohrid Framework Agreement. The event was organized by the Ministry for Inter-Community Relations, headed by Minister Agon Ferati.

The considerable diplomatic attendance drew attention. Ambassadors and representatives from more than 20 diplomatic missions took part in the institutional event held in Skopje, giving the anniversary a distinctly international character.

With their choice, the diplomats prioritized the institution over the party, the state over the political structure, and a forward-looking orientation over figures from the past. In short, they chose VLEN.

Meanwhile, the party event organized by DUI and Ali Ahmeti had markedly lower representation from the diplomatic corps.

The contrast was clear: the international community preferred an institutional event that conveyed messages about the future and the new generation, while DUI’s party gathering did not generate the same level of interest among diplomats.

This situation naturally raises the question of whether diplomats are changing their stance toward Ali Ahmeti and DUI.

While the attendance of ambassadors was previously presented as evidence of DUI’s political influence, today’s picture is entirely different.

The political signal is clear: diplomatic influence is not determined by the number of gatherings organized, but by the representation of institutions and a vision for the country’s future.

Therefore, the issue is not limited solely to the absence of diplomats from Ahmeti’s event. The main question is who is becoming their new point of contact.
