18 drivers arrested for reckless driving within 24 hours

Over the past 24 hours, police detained 18 drivers across the country for reckless driving, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.

Of the total number of those arrested, 17 were caught driving without a driver’s license. Five cases were recorded in Skopje, three in Prilep, and one each in Bitola, Kochani, Delchevo, Kichevo, Valandovo, Gevgelija, Veles, Negotino and the Tetovo area.

A driver from the village of Dulica, in the municipality of Makedonska Kamenica, was also arrested. He was driving under the influence of alcohol and caused a traffic accident that resulted in material damage.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said that, once each case has been fully documented, the relevant criminal complaints will be filed.

The Ministry once again urged all road users to comply with traffic rules and regulations. Citizens are asked not to drive a vehicle without passing the driver’s license examination, while a driving ban is in effect against them, or while under the influence of alcohol, with the aim of improving traffic safety.
