After more than four months of protests, citizens are gathering in Tirana today for their 133rd demonstration against the government. Their demand for Prime Minister Edi Rama’s resignation remains unchanged, while organizers say the protests will continue until their demands are met.

The rally follows recent political developments, including parliament’s approval of territorial reform.
The reform would reduce the number of municipalities from 61 to 46. The opposition and citizens have opposed it, raising concerns about its potential impact on representation and services in smaller local government areas.
Alongside Rama’s resignation, the protesters’ platform calls for a transitional technical government with a 12-month mandate and changes to the political and electoral systems.
Their demands also include opposition to several legislative initiatives that they say harm citizens’ interests.
The protesters have said their campaign will continue in the coming days. October 13 is expected to be another significant date, with students and young people urged to join the protest.
