127th protest against the government held today as citizens stand by their demands: Rama’s resignation and a technocratic government

Citizens and activists are gathering in Tirana today for their 127th consecutive protest, continuing the daily demonstrations against the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama.

After more than four months of uninterrupted resistance, the organizers have announced that the opposition action will continue and that they will reiterate their main political demands.

Today’s protest comes immediately after the 126th demonstration, when protesters initially gathered in Skanderbeg Square before marching toward the main boulevard and the streets of the capital.

During yesterday’s march, participants shouted strong slogans against the government and called for an immediate change in the country’s political course.

Direct accusations against senior state officials were also made during speeches held in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Amid strong statements about rampant corruption, one of the protesters openly called for the arrest of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, while the event concluded with a call for even greater public participation in the days ahead.

For weeks, the protesters’ platform has remained clearly articulated: the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama from office, the establishment of a transitional technocratic government with a 12-month mandate to prepare elections, as well as reform of the political system and the repeal of several controversial legal initiatives.
