10 Hours of Negotiations, Two Lives Lost, and a Hostage Situation: Ex-Partner’s Testimony Reveals Threats and a Mystery Sum of Money

Investigators will call again for questioning the 24-year-old Rozalinda Plaka, who was held hostage for hours by her ex-partner Refit Buzi. The latter, after killing her father and seriously wounding her mother – who died a few hours later – committed suicide after about 10 hours of efforts by the Police and RENEA forces to persuade him to surrender. According to sources close to the investigation, the young woman’s first testimony has not yet shed light on the reasons that drove the 35-year-old to this serious act.

The same sources inform that Rozalinda Plaka, immediately after the perpetrator released her, described only what happened inside the house on the morning of July 24. In a severe psychological state, she recounted that she was sleeping when she heard noises in the apartment. As soon as she woke up, she saw Refit Buzi in her room with a shotgun. “He ordered me to get in the car with him and follow him from behind,” she told investigators. The 24-year-old added that at that moment she did not have a clear picture of what had happened in the house. “I only saw my father lying in the kitchen, while I couldn’t see my mother,” she is reported to have stated.

Regarding the causes of the crime, the breakup of her relationship with Refit Buzi, as well as his claim that he had entrusted her with 830,000 pounds from England to keep safe and that the money had not been returned, the young woman gave no explanation. For this reason, the investigative team is expected to question her again as the investigation continues.

The serious event took place on the morning of July 24 in the village of Vidhisht in Roskovec, where Kosta Plaka was killed and his wife, Belere Plaka, was seriously wounded, dying a few hours later. The 35-year-old perpetrator Refit Buzi, after almost 10 hours of negotiations, ended his life inside his vehicle, refusing to surrender.
