High temperatures during the summer have caused more than 5,000 deaths in Spain. This is the highest toll recorded for the June–August period since 2015, when these statistics began to be compiled.

The Carlos III Health Institute announced that 5,111 heat-related deaths were recorded during these three months. Broken down by month, 937 cases were recorded in June, 2,025 in July and a further 2,149 in August.

This year’s toll has surpassed the record set in 2022, when 4,652 deaths caused by high temperatures were reported during the same period. The number of deaths was 3,651 in 2025, while in 2024 it reached around 1,977.

The statistics were compiled through Spain’s MoMo system, which tracks mortality levels daily and compares recorded cases with forecasts based on historical data. The calculations also use temperatures reported by Spain’s meteorological service, Aemet.

This year, the country has faced an exceptionally hot summer and several consecutive waves of extreme temperatures. July 2026 ranked among the hottest months ever measured in Spain. Aemet also described it as the driest July since records began in 1961.

Forecasts from the meteorological service indicate that September could also begin with temperatures significantly above average. In certain areas, they could be more than 10 degrees Celsius above the typical levels for this period.

According to experts, the increase in heatwaves and their growing intensity are linked to climate change. Spain is considered one of the European countries most at risk from extreme temperatures.

Instituti Shëndetësor Carlos III bëri të ditur se në këta tre muaj u evidentuan 5,111 vdekje të lidhura me vapën. Sipas ndarjes mujore, 937 raste u shënuan në qershor, 2,025 në korrik dhe 2,149 të tjera në gusht.

Bilanci i këtij viti ka kaluar rekordin e vitit 2022, kur në të njëjtën periudhë u raportuan 4,652 viktima si pasojë e temperaturave të larta. Numri i vdekjeve ishte 3,651 në vitin 2025, ndërsa në vitin 2024 arriti në rreth 1,977.

Statistikat janë përpiluar përmes sistemit spanjoll MoMo, i cili ndjek çdo ditë nivelin e vdekshmërisë dhe krahason rastet e regjistruara me parashikimet e mbështetura në të dhënat historike. Për llogaritjet përdoren gjithashtu temperaturat e raportuara nga shërbimi meteorologjik i Spanjës, Aemet.

Gjatë këtij viti, vendi është përballur me një verë jashtëzakonisht të nxehtë dhe me disa valë të njëpasnjëshme temperaturash ekstreme. Korriku 2026 u rendit mes muajve më të nxehtë të matur ndonjëherë në Spanjë. Aemet e përcaktoi atë edhe si korrikun më të thatë që nga nisja e regjistrimeve në vitin 1961.

Parashikimet e shërbimit meteorologjik tregojnë se shtatori mund të fillojë gjithashtu me temperatura dukshëm mbi mesataren. Në zona të caktuara, ato mund të jenë më shumë se 10 gradë Celsius mbi nivelet tipike të kësaj periudhe.

Sipas ekspertëve, shtimi i valëve të të nxehtit dhe fuqizimi i tyre lidhen me ndryshimet klimatike. Spanja konsiderohet një nga shtetet evropiane më të rrezikuara nga temperaturat ekstreme.

After gathering in Skanderbeg Square, the protesters began marching along “Martyrs of the Nation” Boulevard toward the Prime Minister’s Office. Their main demand remains the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the government’s departure.

During the previous 92 days, rallies have been held every day, and citizens have repeatedly said they will not stop until their demands are met. In addition to Rama and his cabinet stepping down, the protesters are calling for the creation of a transitional government and a change to the political system.

A day earlier, the 92nd protest also featured a march from Skanderbeg Square toward the government building, along with banners, whistles and chants against Edi Rama. The slogan “Arrest Balluku” was also heard along the way. Speeches against the government were delivered in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Activist Sidorela Vatnikaj said from the podium that the protest would continue until Rama and his government leave office. She also opposed the old political system, declaring that citizens no longer want to choose between “two autocratic leaders,” but aspire to a new Albania.

Activist Arben Kola accused the ruling majority and said that citizens had gathered to tell the government to “get out.” In his speech, he focused in particular on Kukës, accusing those in power of depopulating and neglecting the area.

A mother who had returned from emigration also spoke at the rally. She said she had returned to Albania because, in her view, “the homeland is in danger,” and appealed to parents to join the young people. The protester also claimed that, during the march toward the Prime Minister’s Office, eggs had been thrown at citizens from above.

Another protester said that the government was, in her view, showing signs of fear and that, after 92 days, citizens were no longer being deceived by what she described as the “facade” of those in power.

Pas grumbullimit në sheshin “Skënderbej”, protestuesit nisën të marshojnë përgjatë Bulevardit “Dëshmorët e Kombit” në drejtim të Kryeministrisë. Kërkesa kryesore e tyre mbetet dorëheqja e kryeministrit Edi Rama dhe largimi i qeverisë.

Gjatë 92 ditëve të mëparshme, tubimet janë zhvilluar çdo ditë dhe qytetarët kanë përsëritur se nuk do të ndalen derisa të përmbushen kërkesat e tyre. Përveç largimit të Ramës dhe kabinetit të tij, protestuesit kërkojnë krijimin e një qeverie tranzitore dhe ndryshimin e sistemit politik.

Një ditë më parë, protesta e 92-të u shoqërua gjithashtu me marshim nga sheshi “Skënderbej” drejt godinës së qeverisë, si dhe me pankarta, bilbila e thirrje kundër Edi Ramës. Gjatë rrugës u dëgjua edhe slogani “Arresto Ballukun”. Përpara Kryeministrisë u mbajtën fjalime kundër qeverisë.

Aktivistja Sidorela Vatnikaj tha nga foltorja se protesta do të vazhdojë deri në largimin e Ramës dhe qeverisë së tij. Ajo kundërshtoi gjithashtu sistemin e vjetër politik, duke deklaruar se qytetarët nuk duan të zgjedhin më mes “dy liderëve autokratikë”, por synojnë një Shqipëri të re.

Aktivisti Arben Kola akuzoi mazhorancën dhe u shpreh se qytetarët janë mbledhur për t’i thënë qeverisë “shporru”. Në fjalën e tij, ai u ndal veçanërisht te Kukësi, duke e akuzuar pushtetin për shpopullimin dhe neglizhimin e kësaj zone.

Në tubim foli edhe një nënë e rikthyer nga emigracioni. Ajo tha se ishte kthyer në Shqipëri sepse, sipas saj, “atdheu është në rrezik”, ndërsa u bëri apel prindërve që t’u bashkohen të rinjve. Protestuesja pretendoi gjithashtu se gjatë marshimit drejt Kryeministrisë, nga lartësia ishin hedhur vezë në drejtim të qytetarëve.

Një tjetër protestuese deklaroi se qeveria, sipas saj, po shfaq shenja frike dhe se pas 92 ditësh qytetarët nuk mashtrohen më nga ajo që e cilësoi si “fasadë” të pushtetit.

Prindërit e vajzës, 44 dhe 47 vjeç, me origjinë nga Maqedonia e Veriut, dyshohet se nuk e kanë pranuar lidhjen për shkak të ndryshimeve fetare. Sipas hetimeve, ata i kanë bërë presion të vazhdueshëm të bijës dhe e kanë kërcënuar kur ajo nuk pranoi t’i jepte fund marrëdhënies.

Familja, e vendosur prej vitesh në Rimini, kishte vendosur kufizime të forta për jetën e 20-vjeçares, duke përfshirë veshjen, shoqërinë dhe vendimet e saj personale. Përplasja u thellua pasi ajo nisi një lidhje me një italian që nuk ishte mysliman.

Për t’i shpëtuar presionit, e reja u largua nga shtëpia dhe u zhvendos te partneri. Dy të rinjtë u përpoqën ta mbanin të fshehtë adresën, por prindërit dyshohet se mblodhën të dhëna nga të afërm, të njohur dhe persona të komunitetit, derisa zbuluan vendndodhjen e çiftit.

Më pas, vajza nisi të merrte mesazhe të shpeshta, disa prej të cilave përmbanin kërcënime. Në njërin prej tyre thuhej: “Mund të të gjej edhe sikur të shkosh në Hënë, sepse familjet shqiptare janë të gjitha të bashkuara”.

Një tjetër mesazh, sipas dosjes hetimore, e paralajmëronte: “Nëse nuk kthehesh në shtëpi, do të kesh një jetë ferr.” Të frikësuar, vajza dhe partneri i saj iu drejtuan Policisë së Riminit dhe bënë denoncim, por sipas tyre, shqetësimet vazhduan.

Në një rast tjetër, prindërit i dërguan vajzës një fotografi ku babai shfaqej pranë rrugës së banesës ku ajo jetonte me të dashurin. Çifti e konsideroi këtë si provë se familjarët e kishin gjetur shtëpinë dhe mund të shkonin aty në çdo moment.

Pas këtij episodi, dy të rinjtë paraqitën një denoncim të dytë dhe kërkuan nga autoritetet masa për të ndaluar kontaktet dhe afrimin e prindërve.

Ngjarja mori një përmasë edhe më serioze në maj të vitit 2026, kur prindërit, sipas hetimeve, shkuan në banesën e çiftit dhe hynë pa leje. Situata rrezikoi të shndërrohej në përplasje fizike, pasi dy të rinjtë dyshohet se u kërcënuan me sulm.

Çifti u tërhoq në një dhomë tjetër, e mbylli derën me çelës dhe telefonoi policinë. Ndërhyrja e efektivëve bëri të mundur shmangien e një përshkallëzimi të mëtejshëm.

Pas shqyrtimit të dëshmive dhe episodeve të raportuara, Prokuroria e Riminit vendosi të procedojë penalisht dy prindërit. Ata po hetohen në gjendje të lirë për përndjekje dhe kërcënime.

Hetimet vijojnë, ndërsa 20-vjeçarja dhe partneri i saj synojnë të vazhdojnë bashkëjetesën larg presionit familjar dhe ngjarjeve që, sipas denoncimeve, kanë zgjatur për disa muaj.

The Albanian Road Authority has announced that traffic on the Tirana–Durrës section will face temporary restrictions due to works being carried out as part of the “Expansion of the Tirana–Durrës Superhighway (Phase III)” project.

The intervention involves installing metal beams in the central section of the new Kashar overpass. The works will take place on September 1, 2 and 3, 2026, every night from 23:00 to 05:00, during which time the lanes in both directions, Tirana–Durrës and Durrës–Tirana, will be temporarily closed.

According to the plan established by ARRSH, traffic will be managed during these hours through the following diversions.

In the Tirana–Durrës direction, vehicles will pass via the temporary ramp leading toward Rinas and will then continue along the secondary road. They will re-enter the highway via Rinas Road and the corresponding ramp toward Durrës.

Trucks and other heavy vehicles will be diverted at the “Casa Italia” junction to continue their journey along the secondary road.

For vehicles traveling in the Durrës–Tirana direction, the diversion will be carried out via the Kashar–Thumanë overpass. They will follow the secondary road on the left and return to the highway after passing the Kashar overpass.

Vehicles heading to Rinas, Shkodër or Kosovo will be directed at the Kashar–Thumanë highway overpass and will then continue in the respective direction.

Temporary road signs will be installed throughout the works. Drivers are asked to obey the signs and the instructions of the personnel responsible for managing traffic.

ARRSH asks drivers, businesses and residents in the area for their understanding and cooperation regarding the temporary restrictions. It also recommends planning journeys in advance and, where possible, avoiding this section during the works.

Ndërhyrja lidhet me vendosjen e trarëve metalikë në pjesën qendrore të mbikalimit të ri të Kasharit. Punimet do të zhvillohen më 1, 2 dhe 3 shtator 2026, çdo natë nga ora 23:00 deri në 05:00, kohë gjatë së cilës do të bllokohen përkohësisht korsitë në të dyja drejtimet, Tiranë–Durrës dhe Durrës–Tiranë.

Sipas skemës së përcaktuar nga ARRSH, gjatë këtij orari qarkullimi do të administrohet përmes devijimeve të mëposhtme.

Në drejtimin Tiranë–Durrës, automjetet do të kalojnë nëpërmjet rampës së përkohshme që të çon drejt Rinasit dhe më pas do të vijojnë në rrugën dytësore. Hyrja sërish në autostradë do të bëhet përmes rrugës së Rinasit dhe rampës përkatëse në drejtim të Durrësit.

Kamionët dhe automjetet e tjera të rënda do të devijohen që në nyjën “Casa Italia”, për të vijuar udhëtimin në rrugën dytësore.

Për mjetet që lëvizin në drejtimin Durrës–Tiranë, devijimi do të kryhet përmes mbikalimit Kashar–Thumanë. Ato do të ndjekin rrugën dytësore në anën e majtë dhe do të rikthehen në autostradë pasi të kenë kaluar mbikalimin e Kasharit.

Automjetet që kanë si destinacion Rinasin, Shkodrën ose Kosovën do të orientohen që në mbikalimin e autostradës Kashar–Thumanë, për të vazhduar më pas në drejtimin përkatës.

Gjatë gjithë kohës së punimeve do të vendoset sinjalistikë e përkohshme rrugore. Drejtuesve të mjeteve u kërkohet të respektojnë sinjalet dhe udhëzimet e personelit që do të kujdeset për menaxhimin e trafikut.

ARRSH u kërkon mirëkuptim dhe bashkëpunim drejtuesve të mjeteve, bizneseve dhe banorëve të zonës për kufizimet e përkohshme. Gjithashtu, rekomandohet që udhëtimet të planifikohen paraprakisht dhe, kur është e mundur, të shmanget ky segment gjatë orarit të punimeve.

Operacioni është mbështetur edhe nga ajri, me ndërhyrjen e një helikopteri gjatë dy ditëve të fundit. Megjithatë, përmasat e mëdha të perimetrit të zjarrit nuk kanë lejuar izolimin e plotë të flakëve.

Në terren janë angazhuar dhjetëra forca, por përballja me situatën mbetet e vështirë për shkak të terrenit të thyer malor dhe mungesës së rrugëve automobilistike që do të mundësonin afrimin e mjeteve zjarrfikëse.

Shqetësuese paraqitet edhe situata në masivin pyjor të fshatit Sllatinë në Dibër, si dhe në vatrat e zjarrit në fshatin Vajkaj, pranë Bulqizës, dhe në Qafë Helmes. Ndërkohë, zjarri në Ballenjë të Martaneshit është shuar pas reshjeve të shiut.

Freedom Party Secretary General Tedi Blushi has criticized the Albanian government for failing to take measures to curb rising food prices. Comparing the situation in Albania with that in Greece, he said the Albanian government’s economic policies are placing an even greater burden on families and weakening their purchasing power.

According to Blushi, the Greek government has taken steps to lower the prices of more than 1,600 products through an agreement involving industry, suppliers and supermarkets, with the aim of protecting consumers.

He said Albania is taking the opposite approach, as the tax burden on citizens remains high and the government is not intervening to ease the cost of living. Blushi cited Eurostat data showing that food prices in Albania rose by 3.2% in July, compared with an increase of 0.6% in the European Union.

The Freedom Party MP claimed this disparity illustrates the severe difficulties faced by Albanian families, who pay more for food despite having lower incomes and purchasing power. He described this as a consequence of Edi Rama’s government’s economic model, saying that food prices in Albania are rising five times faster than in Europe.

Blushi also said this is not a temporary phenomenon. According to him, Albania has one of the highest rates of food price growth in the Western Balkans, at 3.2%, compared with 2.7% in Kosovo and 2.3% in Montenegro.

He also highlighted data for 2025, when food prices in Albania reached 102.9% of the European Union average, while Albanians’ per capita income, according to him, stands at only around 43% of the EU average. For this reason, Blushi argued that Albanians pay European-level prices for food while living on incomes that remain among the lowest in the region.

According to him, the minimum wage and pensions in Albania continue to be among the lowest in the region, while food prices place a daily burden on families, pensioners and young people. Blushi said around €5 billion is spent on food every year and that 20.4% of GDP is used to put food on the table, a share he described as very high compared with European countries.

Blushi noted that European Union countries and other countries in the region apply reduced VAT rates to basic products, while staple foods in Albania continue to be taxed at 20%. According to him, this policy particularly harms low-income families and pensioners, who spend most of their income on food.

He accused the government of favoring wealthy citizens and its clients while placing the heaviest burden on those who have the least. Blushi compared the 6% tax rate for clientelist oligarchs with the 20% VAT paid on staple foods, adding that VAT has been abolished entirely for the wealthy who buy yachts.

According to his statement, around €5 billion is spent each year on food alone, while fully 20.4% of GDP goes toward putting food on the table, a level he considered exceptionally high compared with European countries. Blushi accused the government of collecting taxes from citizens struggling to cover basic expenses while granting concessions to billionaire investors who build towers, apartment blocks and resorts, and giving them public land for €1 per square meter.

According to Blushi, the Freedom Party has submitted two bills to Parliament aimed at directly reducing the cost of living. The first initiative provides for reducing VAT on staple foods from 20% to 5%, while the second calls for lowering fuel prices by suspending the Circulation Tax and the Carbon Tax.

Blushi described these as two concrete measures that would have a direct impact on Albanian families’ budgets and that, according to him, require only political will and a vote in Parliament, not propaganda shows.

He said Edi Rama refuses to lower taxes because his model of government relies on collecting as much revenue as possible from citizens and distributing it in line with the government’s clientelist interests. Blushi added that while Greece is considering mechanisms to reduce the prices of thousands of products, Albania’s government, according to him, is looking for ways to take even the last of its citizens’ money.

The Freedom Party, Blushi said, has an economic and social alternative set out in its “5 Priorities for 4 Million Albanians Plus” program. The program aims to halt depopulation, double pensions and wages, double support for education, and turn Albania into a producing and exporting country instead of an economy dependent on imports, consumption and high taxation.

According to him, Albania does not need more propaganda, towers and facades, but a government that provides citizens with higher incomes, food on the table, security for their families and hope for the future.

Blushi said the Freedom Party aims to reduce the cost of living and taxes on basic products, putting an end to a model in which Albanians pay like Europeans but live on very low incomes. He concluded that the priorities should be 4 million Albanians plus, a producing and exporting Albania, the Albanian family and a dignified life for every citizen.

“Under Rama, Albanians pay more and receive less. With the Freedom Party, Albanians will pay less, earn more and live better,” Blushi said.
