Armend Zemaj, an MP from the Democratic League of Kosovo, has leveled a series of criticisms at the management of the healthcare sector.

According to him, due to a shortage of medicines used in treatment, hundreds of cancer patients are being forced to buy them themselves. Zemaj emphasized that this is happening even though millions of euros have been allocated for the supply of medicines through tenders.

“We have consistently emphasized that there is more money available, but there is a major monopoly that generates huge profits for several pharmaceutical companies linked to those in power, directly to officials at the Ministry of Health and to former subordinates in this vital sector. Meanwhile, patients have access to far fewer medicines, and this undoubtedly places a burden on their families and on the already strained finances of Kosovo’s citizens,” Zemaj wrote.

He stated that this is also one of the reasons why the majority is not interested in constituting the Assembly. According to Zemaj, it wants neither oversight of how the sector is managed nor accountability.

Armend Zemaj, deputet i Lidhjes Demokratike të Kosovës, ka adresuar një varg kritikash ndaj menaxhimit të sektorit të shëndetësisë.

Sipas tij, për shkak të mungesës së barnave për terapi, qindra pacientë me kancer po detyrohen t’i blejnë ato vetë. Zemaj ka theksuar se kjo po ndodh ndonëse për furnizimin me barna janë ndarë miliona euro përmes tenderëve.

“Vazhdimisht kemi theksuar se para ka më shumë, por ekziston një monopol i madh që u sjell fitime të mëdha disa kompanive farmaceutike të lidhura me pushtetin, drejtpërdrejt me drejtues në MSh dhe me ish-vartës të këtij sektori jetik. Ndërkohë, pacientët kanë shumë më pak barna dhe kjo, pa dyshim, rëndon familjet e tyre dhe xhepat e varfër të qytetarëve të Kosovës”, ka shkruar Zemaj.

Ai ka deklaruar se kjo përbën edhe një nga arsyet pse shumica nuk është e interesuar për konstituimin e Kuvendit. Sipas Zemajt, ajo nuk dëshiron as mbikëqyrje të mënyrës së menaxhimit dhe as llogaridhënie.

Armend Zemaj, an MP from the Democratic League of Kosovo, said that the Parliamentary Group will discuss and then decide whether LDK will join the actions of PDK and the Alliance in the Assembly of Kosovo to convene the constitutive session.

Speaking as lawmakers from PDK and the Alliance were protesting in the plenary chamber and demanding that the session be held, Zemaj described the institutional deadlock as unjustifiable.

“Obstructing the constitution of the Assembly or the functioning of institutions is unnecessary and unreasonable. Such a situation increases tensions, deepens polarization in society and harms Kosovo’s democracy,” he said.

Zemaj added that LDK’s position will be made public as soon as the Parliamentary Group reaches a political decision. He noted that today was also an open day for visits by compatriots, while explaining that political participation is linked to the fact that the Assembly is not being contested. Finally, he called on the chair of the session, Avni Dehari, to convene the constitutive session.

Armend Zemaj, deputet i Lidhjes Demokratike të Kosovës, deklaroi se Grupi Parlamentar do të diskutojë dhe më pas do të marrë vendim nëse LDK-ja do t’u bashkohet veprimeve të PDK-së dhe Aleancës në Kuvendin e Kosovës për thirrjen e seancës konstituive.

Duke folur në kohën kur ligjvënësit e PDK-së dhe Aleancës po protestonin në sallën plenare me kërkesën për mbajtjen e kësaj seance, Zemaj e cilësoi të pajustifikueshme bllokadën institucionale.

“Është e panevojshme dhe e paarsyeshme pengesa ndaj konstituimit të Kuvendit apo funksionimit institucional. Një situatë e tillë shton tensionet, thellon polarizimin në shoqëri dhe i shkakton dëm demokracisë së Kosovës”, tha ai.

Zemaj shtoi se qëndrimi do të bëhet i ditur sapo Grupi Parlamentar të marrë një vendim politik. Ai përmendi se sot ishte edhe ditë e hapur për vizitat e bashkatdhetarëve, ndërsa sqaroi se pjesëmarrja politike lidhet me faktin se Kuvendi nuk po kontestohet. Në fund, ai i kërkoi drejtuesit të seancës, Avni Dehari, ta thërrasë seancën konstituive.
