The Albanian Road Authority has announced that traffic on the Tirana–Durrës section will face temporary restrictions due to works being carried out as part of the “Expansion of the Tirana–Durrës Superhighway (Phase III)” project.

The intervention involves installing metal beams in the central section of the new Kashar overpass. The works will take place on September 1, 2 and 3, 2026, every night from 23:00 to 05:00, during which time the lanes in both directions, Tirana–Durrës and Durrës–Tirana, will be temporarily closed.

According to the plan established by ARRSH, traffic will be managed during these hours through the following diversions.

In the Tirana–Durrës direction, vehicles will pass via the temporary ramp leading toward Rinas and will then continue along the secondary road. They will re-enter the highway via Rinas Road and the corresponding ramp toward Durrës.

Trucks and other heavy vehicles will be diverted at the “Casa Italia” junction to continue their journey along the secondary road.

For vehicles traveling in the Durrës–Tirana direction, the diversion will be carried out via the Kashar–Thumanë overpass. They will follow the secondary road on the left and return to the highway after passing the Kashar overpass.

Vehicles heading to Rinas, Shkodër or Kosovo will be directed at the Kashar–Thumanë highway overpass and will then continue in the respective direction.

Temporary road signs will be installed throughout the works. Drivers are asked to obey the signs and the instructions of the personnel responsible for managing traffic.

ARRSH asks drivers, businesses and residents in the area for their understanding and cooperation regarding the temporary restrictions. It also recommends planning journeys in advance and, where possible, avoiding this section during the works.

Traffic on part of the Elbasan-Cërrik road will be interrupted today as work is carried out to repair the “Naum Panxhi” Canal.

The work will take place along the Mjekës-Kuqan section, in the Shirgjan Administrative Unit. The canal was damaged several weeks ago.

While the work is underway, vehicles will use the alternative Kanali me Kama–Bugjes–Kuqan route.

Road Police and Municipal Police units will remain on site to direct traffic and guide drivers.

The authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution, obey the road signs and follow police instructions until the work is completed.

One of the most problematic points for vehicle traffic is the alternative road opened near the Dollc Bridge, as the main section of the route is currently being excavated. During discussions with specialists from the contractor at the site, the minister was informed that this disruption is expected to be resolved within a week, restoring normal traffic to the existing road.

During the inspection, the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport held direct consultations with engineering teams in every part of the project, addressing a range of challenges typical of works of this scale. According to projections made on site, this road section will soon benefit from a faster pace and improved work dynamics.

Acknowledging the inconvenience caused to residents and businesses, the acting Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport calls on citizens for understanding. The institution guarantees that it will remain present on the ground, in coordination with all responsible parties, to address challenges in a timely manner and accelerate the completion of this important project.
