The Ministry of Defense has released the latest update on the wildfire situation across Albania, based on operational data collected up to 8:00 p.m. on August 29, 2026.

A total of 16 wildfires were recorded during this period. Of these, 5 remain active, while 2 others have been placed under monitoring.

A total of 228 operational personnel, 10 firefighting vehicles, 4 helicopters and 75 Armed Forces personnel have been mobilized to manage the situation on the ground.

The wildfire at Qafë-Priskë, Dajt, has shown signs of reignition. A total of 25 firefighters/AZM personnel, 20 Armed Forces personnel and 2 helicopters are operating in the area.

In Vajkal, Bulqizë, the fire continues to spread across a considerable area covered with scrub and juniper. A total of 31 local/volunteer personnel, 30 Armed Forces personnel and 1 helicopter have been deployed to deal with the situation.

An active wildfire also remains in a forested area in Sllatinë, Dibër. A total of 78 personnel on the ground and 1 helicopter have taken part in the operation, while populated areas are not considered to be at risk.

The wildfire at Qafë e Helmësit, in Bulqizë, is being monitored and has shown no new developments. It poses no risk to homes.

In Kroi i Madh, Krujë, efforts to contain the fire are continuing with 2 firefighting vehicles. According to the latest data, the situation in the area is moving toward normalization and complete extinguishing.

The wildfires on Mount Dardhë, Librazhd, and Mount Qukës, Prrenjas, are under surveillance and pose no risk to populated areas.

The fires in Komsi, Mat, and Delisuf, Vlorë, have been completely extinguished.

The National Civil Protection Agency is continuously monitoring the situation across the country, in close cooperation with the prefectures, municipalities and Civil Protection system structures.

Operational forces and capacities remain present on the ground and on standby for intervention, with a focus on protecting people’s lives, homes and property.

The Ministry of Defense announced that, as of 2:00 p.m. on August 21, 16 wildfire hotspots had been identified in Albania. Of these, 10 remain active, while two others are being monitored.

A total of 240 military personnel, three firefighting vehicles, four helicopters and two Air Tractor aircraft from the Air Force have been deployed to deal with the situation.

In the Gojan–Gjegjan area of Puka, the situation is reported to be calm, with no threat to homes. Teams from the Fire Protection and Rescue Service, the Forestry Service, the municipality, volunteers and the Armed Forces are continuing to work in the field, while vehicles have been positioned at points where the fire could reignite.

The response in Dukat, Vlora, is taking place in the Shata area, after the flames spread toward the mountain during the night. According to the Ministry of Defense, homes are not at risk. Two Air Tractor aircraft have also been involved in the operation.

In Mal Milot, Kurbin, efforts to extinguish the fire that has engulfed the pine forest are continuing. No risk to homes has been reported, while firefighting forces, police officers, municipal employees and the Armed Forces are taking part in the operation. The response is being supported from the air by one helicopter.

In Dajt, Tirana, teams are working to contain the remaining hotspots. Some of them have been fully contained and pose no risk to populated areas.

Response efforts and monitoring are also continuing at the other hotspots, with the aim of controlling the situation and preventing the fires from reigniting.

The National Civil Protection Agency is coordinating the monitoring of the situation across the country with the prefectures, municipalities and Civil Protection structures. Operational capacities remain on standby for an immediate response.
