Vezir Haziraj will remain in pre-trial detention for one month, under a decision issued by the Basic Court of Peja.

The court confirmed the measure in an official response after reviewing the prosecution’s request and holding a hearing.

According to the notice, the pre-trial judge, in Ruling No. DKR.PP.nr.135/26 dated 16.08.2026, decided that his pre-trial detention would last one (1) month.

Haziraj, who was arrested on Saturday, has had run-ins with the law since he was 16 years old.

Documents obtained by Klan Kosova show that a total of 12 indictments have been filed against him for various criminal offenses.

In 2018, he was found guilty and sentenced to 6 years and 6 months in prison for the attempted aggravated murder of his 17-year-old girlfriend, whom he had attacked with a knife. He received a 4-month prison sentence for escaping, while another 4-month sentence was imposed after he committed a criminal offense while serving time in prison.

The remaining indictments mainly concern cases of petty and serious theft. Some of the proceedings initiated since 2016 have yet to be heard in court.

Vezir Haziraj do të qëndrojë një muaj në paraburgim, vendim ky i marrë nga Gjykata Themelore e Pejës.

Gjykata e ka konfirmuar këtë masë përmes një përgjigjeje zyrtare, pas shqyrtimit të kërkesës së prokurorisë dhe zhvillimit të seancës dëgjimore.

Sipas njoftimit, gjyqtari i procedurës paraprake, me Aktvendimin me shenjën DKR.PP.nr.135/26, të datës 16.08.2026, ka vendosur që paraburgimi ndaj tij të zgjasë një (1) muaj.

Haziraj, i arrestuar të shtunën, ka pasur përplasje me drejtësinë që kur ishte 16 vjeç.

Dosja e siguruar nga Klan Kosova tregon se ndaj tij janë ngritur gjithsej 12 aktakuza për vepra të ndryshme penale.

Në vitin 2018, ai u shpall fajtor dhe u dënua me 6 vjet e 6 muaj burgim për tentim-vrasje të rëndë ndaj të dashurës së tij 17-vjeçare, të cilën e kishte sulmuar me thikë. Për arratisjen, ai mori një dënim prej 4 muajsh burgim, ndërsa një tjetër dënim prej 4 muajsh iu shqiptua pasi kreu vepër penale edhe gjatë qëndrimit në burg.

Pjesa tjetër e aktakuzave ka të bëjë kryesisht me raste të vjedhjeve të lehta dhe të rënda. Disa prej procedurave të iniciuara që nga viti 2016 ende nuk janë shqyrtuar në gjykatë.

The Serious Crimes Department of the Basic Court in Peja has ordered the defendant, Vezir (Ramush) Haziraj, to be held in custody for 30 days.

The detention period will be calculated from August 15, 2026, when Haziraj was arrested, and will remain in effect until September 13, 2026, according to the obtained ruling.

He is suspected of the criminal offense of “unauthorized ownership, control or possession of a weapon,” and the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Peja has opened an investigation against him.

The ruling was issued following a hearing held on August 16, during which the court found that the legal requirements for imposing this measure had been met.

Departamenti për Krime të Rënda i Gjykatës Themelore në Pejë ka vendosur që i pandehuri Vezir (Ramush) Haziraj të mbahet në paraburgim për 30 ditë.

Masa do të përllogaritet nga 15 gushti 2026, kur Haziraj u arrestua, dhe do të jetë në fuqi deri më 13 shtator 2026, thuhet në aktvendimin e siguruar.

The Basic Prosecution in Peja filed a request during the day for his detention in custody. He is suspected of attempted murder, unauthorized possession of weapons and making threats.

The prosecution’s request states that on August 7, in the village of Orroberdë in Istog, following a dispute, Haziraj allegedly fired at Dardan Haxhijaj with a modified hunting rifle. Haxhijaj was wounded in the thigh and suffered life-threatening injuries.

After the incident, according to the Prosecution, the suspect fled and remained at large until August 15. During this period, he allegedly also published threatening messages against police officials.

The request for detention was justified by the risk that Haziraj might flee, influence witnesses or repeat the criminal offenses. The Prosecution assessed that less severe measures would not be sufficient.

Në kërkesën e Prokurorisë thuhet se më 7 gusht, në fshatin Orroberdë të Istogut, pas një mosmarrëveshjeje, Haziraj dyshohet se qëlloi drejt Dardan Haxhijajt me një pushkë gjuetie të modifikuar. Haxhijaj u plagos në kofshë dhe pësoi lëndime që i rrezikuan jetën.

Pas ngjarjes, sipas Prokurorisë, i dyshuari u largua dhe qëndroi në arrati deri më 15 gusht. Gjatë kësaj periudhe, ai dyshohet se publikoi edhe mesazhe kërcënuese kundër zyrtarëve policorë.

Kërkesa për paraburgim është arsyetuar me rrezikun që Haziraj të arratiset, të ndikojë te dëshmitarët ose t’i përsërisë veprat penale. Prokuroria ka vlerësuar se masa më të lehta nuk do të mjaftonin.

The Serious Crimes Department at the Basic Prosecution Office in Peja has asked the competent court to order pretrial detention for Vezir Haziraj. The request follows investigative actions into the incident that occurred on August 7, 2026, in the village of Orroberd, Istog Municipality.

Haziraj is reasonably suspected of the criminal offenses of “Attempted Murder,” “Unauthorized Ownership, Control or Possession of Weapons,” and “Threat.” The prosecution has concluded that the legal requirements for pretrial detention have been met in this case.

According to the announcement, at around 20:40 on August 7, 2026, following a dispute between the defendant and the injured party, D.H., in Orroberd, the two became involved in a physical altercation. Haziraj is suspected of pulling out a modified hunting rifle during the confrontation and firing at D.H., wounding him in the left thigh and causing life-threatening bodily injuries. He is suspected of fleeing the scene after the shooting.

The prosecution also alleges that the defendant owned and possessed weapons without authorization, in violation of applicable legislation. These included the modified hunting rifle allegedly used to commit the criminal offense and a handgun, namely a revolver. He does not appear to have had the relevant permits for these weapons issued by the competent authorities.

A day later, on August 8, 2026, at around 20:53, Haziraj is suspected of posting threatening content against officials on social media. He is suspected of having seriously threatened in the post to harm them using firearms and explosive devices.

Departamenti i Krimeve të Rënda në Prokurorinë Themelore të Pejës i është drejtuar gjykatës kompetente me kërkesë për caktimin e paraburgimit ndaj Vezir Hazirajt. Kërkesa është bërë pas veprimeve hetimore për ngjarjen e 7 gushtit 2026 në fshatin Orroberd të Komunës së Istogut.

Haziraj dyshohet në mënyrë të bazuar për veprat penale “Vrasje e mbetur në tentativë”, “Mbajtja në pronësi, kontroll ose posedim të paautorizuar të armëve” dhe “Kanosja”. Prokuroria ka vlerësuar se në këtë rast janë plotësuar kushtet ligjore për masën e paraburgimit.

Sipas njoftimit, rreth orës 20:40 të 7 gushtit 2026, pas një mosmarrëveshjeje mes të pandehurit dhe të dëmtuarit D.H. në Orroberd, dy personat janë përfshirë në një përleshje fizike. Haziraj dyshohet se gjatë konfliktit ka nxjerrë një pushkë gjuetie të modifikuar dhe ka qëlluar drejt D.H., duke e plagosur në kofshën e majtë dhe duke i shkaktuar lëndime trupore që i rrezikonin jetën. Pas të shtënave, ai dyshohet se është larguar nga vendi i ngjarjes.

Organi i akuzës pretendon gjithashtu se i pandehuri ka pasur në pronësi dhe posedim armë pa autorizim, në kundërshtim me legjislacionin në fuqi. Mes tyre përfshihen pushka e modifikuar e gjuetisë, me të cilën dyshohet se u krye vepra penale, dhe një armë e shkurtër, përkatësisht revole. Për këto armë nuk rezulton se ai kishte lejet përkatëse të lëshuara nga organet kompetente.

Një ditë më vonë, më 8 gusht 2026, rreth orës 20:53, Haziraj dyshohet se publikoi në rrjetet sociale një përmbajtje kërcënuese ndaj personave zyrtarë. Sipas dyshimeve, në atë publikim ai i kanosi seriozisht se do t’i dëmtonte duke përdorur armë zjarri dhe mjete shpërthyese.

Policia e Kosovës njoftoi dje për arrestimin e Vezir Hazirajt, i cili ishte në kërkim për veprën penale të tentim-vrasjes në fshatin Orroberdë të Istogut, të ndodhur më 7 gusht të këtij viti. Pas rastit, i dyshuari ishte arratisur.

Sipas Policisë, pasi konstatoi se nuk kishte mundësi të largohej, Haziraj u dorëzua. Dorëzimi dhe arrestimi u realizuan pa ndonjë incident.

Vezir Haziraj, suspected of the criminal offense of “Attempted Murder,” surrendered to police in Peja today, while the Kosovo Police released new details about his arrest.

According to the Regional Police Directorate in Peja, the incident in which Haziraj is suspected of involvement occurred on August 7, 2026, at around 8:50 p.m. in the village of Orrobërdë, Istog. Gunfire was reported there, leaving one person injured.

After arriving at the scene immediately, police units found the victim with a gunshot wound. The injured person was initially taken to the Regional Hospital in Peja and was later transferred to QKUK in Pristina for further treatment.

Meanwhile, Vezir Haziraj had fled in an unknown direction and had remained at large since the day of the incident.

Investigators from the Regional Investigation Sector in Peja had carried out intensive efforts to locate and apprehend him. An arrest warrant had been issued for Haziraj, while police had also sought the public’s help in finding him.

On August 15, police implemented an operational plan to arrest Haziraj, with central-level units also deployed.

According to police, NJSI/FIT, the Surveillance Unit, and other units took part in the operation. The operation was also carried out in cooperation with the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI).

The house where Haziraj was believed to be hiding was kept surrounded for an extended period by the units involved in the operation.

Police said Vezir Haziraj surrendered after realizing that he had no possibility of escaping, while the entire operation ended without incident.

After more than a week on the run, Haziraj is now in the custody of law enforcement authorities.

The case against him is being handled as “Attempted Murder.”
