Adnan Rrustemi, a deputy from the Vetëvendosje Movement, has said that constituting the Assembly would be pointless if an agreement on the election of the President is not reached beforehand.

Speaking on the Kosova Live program on T7, he said that such a step would immediately trigger an “electoral campaign.”

“It would not be beneficial. Then it becomes an electoral campaign. With each passing day, you know that you are getting closer to elections,” he said.

According to Rrustemi, an agreement can be reached, but this depends on whether there is political will.

“Two days ago they said we were very close, and later they said we were very far apart. I do not know how close or how far apart we may be. In our view, it is possible to reach an agreement very soon if there is political will,” the LVV deputy declared.

He added that the parties should first agree on a consensus President and then discuss the form of their partnership or cooperation.

“We must agree on a consensus President and sit down to discuss the format of the partnership or cooperation,” Rrustemi said.

The deputy called on political parties to sit down together and reach a solution, stressing that the crisis can be overcome only through an agreement on the president.

Rrustemi called for the political entities to agree today, tomorrow or as soon as possible on a consensual, nonpartisan president. He stressed that only this agreement would overcome the crisis and create stability, while reiterating his invitation to the three Albanian political parties to sit down and find common ground on the president.
