The Hague Special Court has sentenced four former KLA leaders to a total of 81 years in prison. Specifically, Hashim Thaçi and Jakup Krasniqi received 25 years each, Kadri Veseli was sentenced to 18 years, and Rexhep Selimi to 13 years.

The former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army were convicted of war crimes, including unlawful or arbitrary detention, cruel treatment, torture and unlawful killing.

Meanwhile, as the verdict was delivered, protests erupted on the streets of Pristina, with chants against Serbia.

Tearful and grieving citizens were seen in the square and streets of Pristina, as the atmosphere grew tense.
