An accident on the Veles-Shtip road claimed the life of a 46-year-old man from Kumanovo.

According to preliminary information, the victim was driving a Skoda Fabia, which veered off the road for reasons that are still unknown. The driver died at the scene from the injuries he sustained.

The deceased’s body was sent for an autopsy by order of the competent authorities. Meanwhile, an inspection was carried out at the accident scene, while the relevant institutions are working to determine the causes and circumstances of the incident.

Further details are expected to be made public after the investigation is completed.

A serious traffic accident that occurred yesterday on the coastal highway near Unec in Slovenia claimed the lives of three citizens of North Macedonia, while two others were injured.

Preliminary information indicates that a truck had stopped in the designated stopping area due to a malfunction. Under circumstances that are still unclear, the driver of the vehicle collided with the left rear part of the trailer.

Five people were traveling inside the vehicle, all of whom were citizens of North Macedonia.

The death of three of them was confirmed at the scene by a doctor.

One of the injured, who had suffered serious injuries, was transported by helicopter to the hospital. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

So far, the Slovenian authorities have not released the identities or ages of the individuals involved, nor the health status of the survivors.

The news comes a day after media reported the disappearance of three people, while their relatives had appealed to the public asking for help in finding them.

The family’s notices referred to Ejup Ternava, Çenet Ternava and Fatmire Shabani. They were last seen in Skopje, on Saturday evening, around 10:00 PM.

The group had taken the route from the airport towards Kosovo and was traveling in a blue Mercedes GLC, with registration plates MR-DT 2025.

As a result of the collision, L.J. sustained serious bodily injuries, confirmed at St. Erasmus Hospital in Ohrid. Meanwhile, G.P. and his passenger S.P. (57), also from Ohrid, suffered bodily injuries.

The Ministry of Interior said that, following measures taken, it was established that L.J. had 1.80 per mille of alcohol in his blood. By order of the public prosecutor, his vehicle was seized, while police teams carried out an inspection of the scene. After the case is fully documented, an appropriate criminal complaint was filed against L.J. A criminal charge will be brought, the Ministry of Interior said.

“Three vehicles were involved in the accident, with five injured persons who were taken to the Borka Taleski City Hospital in Prilep. Since 16:40, traffic has been diverted into one lane with physical regulation,” the Ministry of Interior said.

Relevant services intervened at the scene, while vehicle movement on this road segment was made difficult or was temporarily suspended.
