According to the official announcement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the incident occurred on July 12, around 7:35 p.m. Officers from the Mobile Traffic Safety Unit, operating within the Traffic Affairs Sector, used a special device for detecting violations to record the speed beyond the permitted limits.

With the authorization of the public prosecutor, the person behind the wheel, identified as L.M., 27 years old from Tetovo, was immediately detained. Also, his “Mercedes” car with local license plates was confiscated and will undergo further legal proceedings.

The necessary administrative measures have already been taken against the young man, and he will be prosecuted. The indictment will rely on Article 297-a of the Criminal Code of the Republic of North Macedonia, which provides for severe penalties for this type of flagrant violation.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced that traffic control actions will be intensified throughout the country in the coming days and weeks. The purpose of these measures is to punish offenders and strengthen safety for all road users.

“We call on all road users to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations. Only through responsible behavior can we all contribute to safer roads,” emphasized the concluding appeal of the MOI’s statement.

At the same time, he announced that intensive work is underway to prepare the documentation for the railway connection between Skopje, Tetovo and Gostivar in the first phase, in cooperation with the European Union and within the framework of the Growth Plan. According to him, the second phase envisages continuing toward Kërçova, while the third phase will include Ohrid, Struga and the Republic of Albania.

Nikoloski said that his goal, which he also described as a kind of dream, is the construction of intercity train lines, which would significantly help ease traffic, as well as reduce congestion and pollution. He added that the project is progressing intensively and expressed hope that the first concrete works will begin during the coming year, while after a few years it will become possible for the trip from the center of Tetovo to the center of Skopje to take only half an hour and offer a pleasant journey.

He also underlined that these activities will represent a continuation of the “Urban Train” project within Skopje.
