Well-known journalist Osman Stafa, speaking as a guest on the News24 studio program, analyzed the country’s social and political developments, calling on citizens to distance themselves from political activism and demand accountability for how the public good is administered.

He said that every citizen should objectively assess what has actually been achieved in the country, without being influenced by personal interests, party-affiliated employment, or fan-like support for politics.

“Democracy is not about blind allegiance. It means managing the money of the citizens you represent better and responding to their concerns,” the journalist said.

During the discussion, Stafa mentioned several promises left unfulfilled by successive governments over the years. His list included the provision of drinking water and the legalization of properties, a process that has continued to drag on for more than a decade.

The journalist also addressed problems within the healthcare system, particularly the lack of a functioning emergency air transport service.

According to him, administrative delays have fatal consequences, while citizens continue to lose their lives on Albania’s roads, despite promises to train pilots during 2024-2025.

Stafa stressed that shortcomings in public services are a problem that affects everyone, from healthcare and education to pensions and salaries.

He also commented on recently published footage showing a minor appearing frightened as he is escorted to a police station during the protests. According to Stafa, the case is a serious indication of how institutions respond to citizens.

The prosecution announced that, in تنفيذion of an order from the Basic Court in Prishtina, searches were carried out at a total of 21 locations.

According to the statement, during the search authorities seized 15 thousand euros, 5 cars, 5 tankers for transporting fuel derivatives, 2 firearms, 54 rounds of ammunition, electronic equipment, various documents and other evidence relevant to the case, as well as 301 euros in 2-euro banknotes, which are suspected to be counterfeit.

“Relevant units of the Police, Customs and the Kosovo Tax Administration took part in this police operation. The joint investigations led to the arrest of F.M., F.M., M.M., S.K., N.B., D.M., A.M., N.M., and G.Q., who are suspected of committing the criminal offenses of money laundering, smuggling of goods in co-perpetration, participation in or organization of an organized criminal group, false documents related to tax, and tax evasion,” the statement said.

At the end of the statement, it is emphasized that the action was carried out as part of investigative procedural steps. After gathering information and securing evidence, reasonable suspicion was established that those arrested had operated as a structured criminal group, presenting false documents related to taxes and carrying out fictitious sales and transactions of oil derivatives.

Earlier in the day, KosovaPress reported that the Special Prosecution, together with Kosovo Customs and the Kosovo Police, had undertaken a large-scale operation, as part of which raids were carried out at several locations.

As a result of this operation, Kosovo Customs, specifically the customs investigations directorate, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police, has launched an investigation into suspicions of tax evasion and the introduction of water instead of oil (mixing).

Sources from KosovaPress say that documents related to non-payment of tax were hidden in eight private houses. The process of verifying the people located at these eight sites has also begun.

More arrests are expected from today’s operation.

According to ASK, the main source of this revenue remains energy taxes (excise duties). During 2025, revenue from this category increased by 12 percent compared with a year earlier.

At the same time, the highest increase was recorded in revenue from pollution taxes, at 35.3 percent, while revenue from transport taxes rose by 9.6 percent.

The overall revenue structure shows that energy taxes generated 365.3 million euros, or 86.5 percent of the total. They were followed by transport taxes with 54 million euros, or 12.8 percent, while pollution taxes reached 3.15 million euros, accounting for 0.7 percent of total revenue from environmental taxes.

ASK also announced that the share of revenue from environmental taxes in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during 2025 was 3.83 percent.
