Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has stated that around 5,700 new businesses were registered in Kosovo over the past year, while the number of declared workers increased by more than 17,000. He also emphasized that tax revenues rose by around 14 percent, while operational activities increased by 35 percent.

According to Kurti, these indicators demonstrate the expansion of economic activity, the growth of employment and the creation of a broader foundation for the country’s development.

In a Facebook post, he said that the results achieved by the Tax Administration of Kosovo were not accidental. He said the work and dedication of the TAT staff and management, as well as the legal changes and reforms undertaken by the Ministry of Finance, had contributed to this process.

Kurti said these reforms had created the conditions for a more modern, efficient and fair tax administration. He also underscored the importance of digitalization in this regard.

As an example of this process, the acting prime minister cited the certification of nine software companies for fiscalization. According to him, this development will bring greater competition and opportunities for higher-quality and more affordable services for businesses.

He stressed that the hiring of new inspectors and debt collectors is helping to increase the TAT’s capacities and prepare it for the future.

Kurti said that a healthy economy cannot function without a strong tax administration. According to him, such an institution is built through professional staff, the use of modern technologies and the creation of mutual trust with citizens and businesses.

Kurti thanked the leadership and employees of the Tax Administration, saying that the results achieved were the product of their work and had not come about by chance.

According to him, tax revenues have increased by around 14%, while operational activities have risen by more than 35% compared with the same period last year. He stressed that, in addition to these figures, an even more significant indicator is the expansion of the economy, with around 5,700 more businesses and more than 17,000 additional workers declared compared with last year. Kurti said this meant more economic activity, new jobs and a broader foundation for the country’s development.

The head of government said that the Tax Administration was also working to change the way it communicates and cooperates with businesses and citizens.

He cited increased transparency—including the publication of decisions by the Appeals Department—as steps toward a more professional and trusted administration, along with the goal of ensuring that 100% of inspections are based on risk assessment. According to Kurti, the 46% increase in reports demonstrates greater trust in the institution, while the decline in the number of fines is consistent with the approach that businesses should first be advised and guided. He added that penalties should be used only as a last resort when the law is violated deliberately or repeatedly.

Kurti assured the Tax Administration of the government’s support and called on it to continue its work with professionalism, transparency and equal treatment for all taxpayers.

He also underscored the importance of digitalization, highlighting the certification of nine software companies as part of the fiscalization process, which, he said, would bring greater competition and create opportunities for higher-quality, more affordable services for businesses. In a Facebook notice, the institution urged taxpayers to exercise caution and not fall victim to this false information.

The Tax Administration of Kosovo advises citizens not to open suspicious links or submit personal data or bank account information through these messages.

According to the notice, all official communication, information or announcements from the Tax Administration of Kosovo are made only through the institution’s official channels. Taxpayers were urged to verify all information through the Tax Administration of Kosovo’s official sources.
