Benjamin Haddad, France’s Minister Delegate for Europe, said that Paris will support Kosovo’s membership in international organizations, regardless of the circumstances.

At a press conference with acting Foreign Minister Glauk Konjufca, Haddad said that today’s developments demonstrate the strengthening of relations between the two countries and create opportunities for even closer cooperation in every field.

He mentioned the support provided by the French Development Agency, the expansion of Francophonie in Kosovo through support for French-language teaching in schools, as well as agreements aimed at broadening cooperation in security and defense.

Haddad expressed hope that his visit to Kosovo would be followed by delegations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense. According to him, these visits would serve to explore concrete forms of cooperation in security, the organization of the Mediterranean Games and, more broadly, trade and investment relations.

“This is something we will support and accelerate, regardless of the circumstances. As I mentioned, we support Kosovo’s integration into international institutions. This is part of our broader project to reunify Europe. I say ‘reunification’ because I do not particularly like the term ‘enlargement.’ I believe this is really about uniting our continent,” Haddad said.

However, the French official stressed that this is a demanding process based on international commitments. In Kosovo’s case, he said the process is also linked to progress in fulfilling the obligations arising from the Brussels Agreement, an issue that was discussed during the meeting.

According to Haddad, the process is also guided by the principle of merit. This includes implementing reforms, aligning with the acquis communautaire, namely European Union legislation, strengthening the rule of law and guaranteeing minority rights. He emphasized that France will be highly demanding in these areas.

Haddad assured that France will stand by Kosovo at every stage of its European journey and will work with it to realize ambitions and objectives that he described as entirely legitimate and achievable.

“We will stand by Kosovo at every step of this journey, working together to make these entirely legitimate and achievable ambitions and objectives a reality. Once again, not only because we have stood by Kosovo and supported it from day one, but also because we believe this is the path toward peace and stability on our continent,” Haddad said.

As announced by the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, the meeting discussed Gashi’s official visit to Germany, with a particular focus on the experiences and practices gained there, aimed at advancing the prosecutorial system in Kosovo and strengthening interinstitutional cooperation.

During the conversation, both sides also praised the cooperation to date between the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council and the German Embassy in Pristina, while expressing readiness to deepen the partnership in areas of mutual interest, especially in the exchange of professional experience, capacity building, and support for reform processes in the prosecutorial system.

Gashi thanked Germany for the continuous support it has provided to the justice system in Kosovo, underlining that this cooperation plays an important role in strengthening the rule of law and in the development of independent justice institutions.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Rudolph reaffirmed German support for the development and strengthening of the justice system in Kosovo. He praised the commitment of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council to advancing reforms, raising professional standards, and expanding international cooperation, emphasizing that the partnership between the institutions of both countries remains essential for strengthening the rule of law and building an efficient, independent prosecutorial system in line with European standards.

In a post published on Facebook, he underlined that AAK’s only request is a public agreement based on six strategic priorities for the country’s development.

“No post for ourselves, no party interest. Only an open agreement for citizens based on these 6 strategic demands,” Tahiri wrote.

According to the platform made public by AAK, this support for the creation of institutions would be offered even without involvement in government, if the future executive accepts the six demands: approval of the American gas project as a state priority, the start of procedures for the construction of a new coal-fired power plant, raising the VAT threshold for small businesses from 30 thousand to 100 thousand euros, exempting cultivated land from property tax in order to encourage domestic production, full financial coverage of major road projects that have remained suspended, as well as the establishment of an emergency fund of 800 million to 1 billion euros for capital investments in Pristina.

At the end of his response, Tahiri stressed that the Alliance has already done its part and that now, according to him, it is time for decisions to be made in the interest of the citizens of Kosovo.
