For the second consecutive day, bad weather with powerful storms has hit Kosovo, leaving severe consequences in several of its regions.

A tragic event has been recorded in the village of Pozheran in Vitia, where a citizen lost his life due to circumstances created by the bad weather, while two other residents suffered minor injuries.

The spokesperson of the Regional Police Directorate in Gjilan, Valon Osmani, stated to “Bota sot” that the deceased, a man born in 1965, is believed to have sustained fatal injuries after accidentally falling on the balcony of his residence.

“Around 16:30 on July 21, 2026, the severe weather conditions led to an incident in Pozheran of Vitia, where a male citizen, born in 1965, is thought to have slipped on the floor of his house balcony and hit his head,” Osmani announced.

He added that the injured person was rushed to the General Hospital of Gjilan, but the duty doctor found that the patient had arrived lifeless.

According to him, police teams immediately arrived at the scene and have launched investigative procedures to clarify the exact circumstances.

“Our police forces, in coordination with the State Prosecutor, are carrying out all investigative actions to fully shed light on the circumstances of this event,” Osmani emphasized.

He announced that by decision of the prosecutor, the body was sent for autopsy to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in the capital.

The storm also caused the wounding of two other people in the same locality.

“At the same time, two men from Pozheran suffered minor injuries when the entrance doors of their yards were knocked down by the force of the weather,” Osmani explained to “Bota sot”.

Both injured received medical attention at the Emergency Center of the hospital in Gjilan and were then allowed to return home.

Finally, spokesperson Osmani called on the population to exercise maximum caution during these dangerous conditions, to avoid unnecessary outings in the affected areas, and to obey the instructions of the authorities.

The victim is a 55-year-old originally from Elbasan, who was sent to Himara to support field teams in repairing faults caused in the network. During the intervention, he suffered a fatal incident.

Initial suspicions are that the employee may have come into contact with electricity, but the cause of death will be determined only after the completion of investigations and technical expertise.

The first fatality has been recorded from the powerful storm that has recently gripped Kosovo.

According to local media, a 61-year-old man died in Pozheran, Viti.

The tragic incident was confirmed by Valon Osmani, the police spokesperson for the Gjilan region, who said that due to the worsening weather conditions, the victim is suspected to have accidentally slipped on the floor of his home’s balcony at around 16:30, sustaining severe head injuries that proved fatal.

Immediately after the incident, the elderly man was reportedly taken by ambulance to the Emergency Center at Gjilan General Hospital, where the doctor on duty pronounced him dead.

“The relevant police units attended the scene and, in coordination with the State Prosecutor, are taking all necessary investigative measures to fully establish and clarify the circumstances of this case. By order of the State Prosecutor, the body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pristina for an autopsy,” Osmani said.

It has also been confirmed so far that two people from the village of Pozheran sustained minor injuries after the storm knocked down the gates to the yards of their homes.

Relevant police units responded to the scene and, in coordination with the State Prosecutor, are carrying out all necessary investigative actions to fully establish and clarify the circumstances of the case.

By order of the State Prosecutor, the body was sent for an autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pristina.

The storm also affected two other Kosovar men from Pozheran. They sustained minor bodily injuries after the entrance gates to their yard collapsed due to the weather conditions.

After receiving medical treatment at the Emergency Center at Gjilan General Hospital, both were discharged and allowed to return home.

In his statement to “Bota sot,” Osmani also relayed an appeal from the Gjilan Regional Police Directorate, which urged citizens to exercise increased caution during such weather conditions, avoid unnecessary travel in high-risk areas, and follow the instructions of the responsible institutions.

Janë proceduar në gjendje të lirë shtetasit: M. M., 67 vjeç, banues në Durrës dhe E. V., 30 vjeçe, banuesë në Kurbin.

Gjithashtu, është shpallur në kërkim shtetasi Shpetim Kraja, 35 vjeç, banues në Shkodër, i shpallur në kërkim për veprën penale “Vjedhja”.
