Avdullahu continues to be one of the players with the biggest increase in market value. According to Transfermarkt, his card is currently valued at 30 million euros, while he recently extended his contract with Hoffenheim until 2031.

Alban Xhaferi, president of Vllaznia, has reacted after a video was published on social media showing his verbal clash with referee Ergys Spahiu following the Elbasani–Vllaznia match.

Calling his behavior unacceptable, Xhaferi has publicly apologized to the referee and his family. He has stated that there is no personal conflict between them and that the matter has been clarified in a spirit of mutual respect and understanding.

The president of the Shkodra club also apologized to Albanian families, as well as to all those who saw or heard the footage. According to him, that behavior does not reflect the upbringing and values he represents.

In his response, Xhaferi writes that the video of the clash that occurred at the end of the match is circulating rapidly on social media, 48 hours after the conclusion of the Elbasani–Vllaznia encounter.

He says he does not wish to dwell on the circumstances and reasons that pushed him to that reaction, because none of them can justify the action. For this reason, he says he considers it a duty to provide an explanation to the public.

Xhaferi first offers a deep and public apology to referee Ergys Spahiu and his family for the way he acted in a moment of tension and extraordinary psychological pressure. He acknowledges that the reaction toward the referee was unacceptable and emphasizes that Spahiu personally had no fault in that clash.

Furthermore, the head of Vllaznia clarifies that his battle is not directed, and will not be directed, against specific individuals. According to him, the opposition concerns a system that, in his conviction, is severely damaging trust in Albanian football.

He calls on the president of the Albanian Football Federation (FSHF), Mr. Armand Duka, to intervene. Xhaferi requests that, together with clubs and all football stakeholders, a fairer, more transparent, and more controllable system be built, so that no one’s work, effort, investment, and sweat are denied.

Referring to a part of the media, Xhaferi says that for days they have chosen to shift the debate away from the real problems of football, moving it to the idea that “the villain is Alban Xhaferi.” He asks to be judged for his actions and criticized whenever he makes mistakes, recalling that in this case he has publicly admitted his fault, but he appeals that this episode should not serve to cover up the issues that demand answers.

In the statement, he emphasizes that Alban Xhaferi comes from an honored and respected Shkodra family, and that he has built his life and work on honesty, hard work, and unwavering faith in God.

Xhaferi admits he made a mistake and that, like any human, he will make mistakes again, but he says he will always have the strength to apologize when he is in the wrong. At the same time, he declares that he will continue to raise his voice whenever he believes an injustice is being committed.

In closing, the president of the Shkodra club asserts that he will continue his battle for Vllaznia, for Shkodra, and for a fairer Albanian football, always learning the necessary lessons even from his own human mistakes.

Duke e cilësuar sjelljen e tij të papranueshme, Xhaferi i ka kërkuar publikisht falje gjyqtarit dhe familjarëve të tij. Ai ka bërë të ditur se mes tyre nuk ekziston asnjë konflikt personal dhe se çështja është sqaruar në frymën e respektit dhe mirëkuptimit të ndërsjellë.

Presidenti i klubit shkodran u ka kërkuar ndjesë gjithashtu familjeve shqiptare, si edhe të gjithë personave që i kanë parë ose dëgjuar pamjet. Sipas tij, ajo sjellje nuk pasqyron edukatën dhe vlerat që përfaqëson.

Në reagimin e tij, Xhaferi shkruan se videoja e përplasjes së ndodhur në fund të takimit po qarkullon me shpejtësi në rrjetet sociale, 48 orë pas përfundimit të sfidës Elbasani–Vllaznia.

Ai shprehet se nuk dëshiron të ndalet te rrethanat dhe arsyet që e shtynë drejt atij reagimi, pasi asnjë prej tyre nuk mund ta justifikojë veprimin. Për këtë arsye, thotë se e konsideron detyrim të japë një sqarim për opinionin publik.

Xhaferi i kërkon fillimisht falje të thellë dhe publike arbitrit Ergys Spahiu dhe familjes së tij për mënyrën si veproi në një çast tensioni dhe presioni të jashtëzakonshëm psikologjik. Ai pranon se reagimi ndaj gjyqtarit ishte i papranueshëm dhe nënvizon se Spahiu personalisht nuk kishte asnjë faj në atë përplasje.

Më tej, kreu i Vllaznisë sqaron se beteja e tij nuk drejtohet dhe nuk do të drejtohet ndaj individëve të caktuar. Sipas tij, kundërshtimi lidhet me një sistem që, bazuar në bindjen e tij, po e dëmton rëndë besimin te futbolli shqiptar.

Ai kërkon të gjykohet për veprimet e tij dhe të kritikohet sa herë gabon, duke kujtuar se në këtë rast e ka pranuar publikisht gabimin, por apelon që ky episod të mos shërbejë për të mbuluar çështjet që kërkojnë përgjigje.

Në deklaratë, ai thekson se Alban Xhaferi vjen nga një familje shkodrane e nderuar dhe e respektuar, ndërsa jetën dhe punën e ka ngritur mbi ndershmërinë, punën dhe besimin e palëkundur në Zot.

Xhaferi pranon se ka gabuar dhe se, si çdo njeri, do të gabojë sërish, por shprehet se do ta ketë gjithmonë forcën për të kërkuar falje kur është në gabim. Në të njëjtën kohë, ai deklaron se do të vazhdojë ta ngrejë zërin sa herë beson se po kryhet një padrejtësi.

Footage has been released of the tense episode in which Vllaznia president Alban Xhaferi punches assistant referee Ergys Spahiu.

The incident occurred after the end of the match between Elbasani and Vllaznia, as Spahiu was heading toward the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms. At that moment, he came face to face with the number one of the Shkodra club, who struck him, while security intervened immediately to prevent escalation.

Xhaferi’s reaction appears to have caught the assistant referee off guard. As soon as the blow landed, the security guard moved to protect Spahiu and calm the situation.

The decision of the Disciplinary Commission at the Albanian Football Federation is now awaited over this unprecedented scandal. Heavy disciplinary sanctions threaten both Xhaferi and coach Edi Martini, the latter for the gesture made on the pitch, where he formed the VAR sign with his hands.

President Bajram Begaj has sent his congratulations to the Albanian wrestling team following its successful performance at the “Taranto 2026” Mediterranean Games.

Albania secured a total of three medals in the competition: one gold, one silver and one bronze.

Islam Dudaev triumphed in the final and was crowned champion, winning the gold medal. Zelimkhan Abakarov finished with a silver medal, while Ardit Zeneli took the bronze.

Besnik Çota, one of the most cherished figures in the history of Sopoti Librazhd, died on Wednesday evening after a serious illness. The former captain and coach of the club leaves the Librazhd sporting community in mourning.

Çota died at a hospital in Tirana, where he had been receiving medical care. He had suffered from a serious illness for years and had undergone dialysis treatment for a long period, facing his health battle with strength and dignity.

His death has deeply affected his family, friends, former teammates, supporters, and the entire Librazhd community. Besnik Çota was held in extremely high regard in the city, both for his contribution to sport and for his personal qualities.

He was considered one of the most outstanding footballers to emerge from Sopoti Librazhd. During the 1990s, he distinguished himself as one of the best players, operating as a playmaking midfielder and displaying excellent technique, vision, and the ability to lead the team on the pitch.

Wearing the captain’s armband, Çota led Sopoti in many important matches. His performances and role within the team placed him among those who left a lasting mark on the history of football in Librazhd.

Even after ending his playing career, he remained involved in football by pursuing coaching. For many years, he worked with Sopoti’s youth teams before also taking charge of the first team.

Besnik Çota’s experience and dedication helped educate and develop several generations of young footballers. Those who worked with him remember him as a measured, principled, and tireless coach.

His death is a major loss for his family, football in Librazhd, and Albanian sport. Besnik Çota made a valuable contribution to the club closest to his heart and to the entire sporting community.

Çota ndërroi jetë në një spital në Tiranë, ku ndodhej nën kujdes mjekësor. Ai vuante prej vitesh nga një sëmundje e rëndë dhe për një periudhë të gjatë i ishte nënshtruar trajtimit me dializë, ndërsa e përballoi betejën shëndetësore me forcë dhe dinjitet.

Humbja e tij ka tronditur familjen, miqtë, ish-shokët e skuadrës, tifozët dhe mbarë komunitetin e Librazhdit. Besnik Çota vlerësohej jashtëzakonisht në qytet, si për kontributin e tij sportiv, ashtu edhe për cilësitë njerëzore.

Ai konsiderohej ndër futbollistët më të spikatur të dalë nga Sopoti i Librazhdit. Gjatë viteve ’90 u shqua si një prej lojtarëve më të mirë, duke luajtur në rolin e mesfushorit organizator dhe duke treguar teknikë të lartë, vizion në lojë dhe aftësi për të drejtuar skuadrën në fushë.

Me shiritin e kapitenit, Çota e udhëhoqi Sopotin në shumë përballje të rëndësishme. Paraqitjet dhe roli i tij në ekip e renditën mes emrave që kanë lënë gjurmë të forta në historinë e futbollit të Librazhdit.

Edhe pasi mbylli karrierën si lojtar, ai vijoi të qëndronte pranë futbollit duke zgjedhur rrugën e trajningut. Për shumë vite punoi me ekipet zinxhir të Sopotit, përpara se të drejtonte edhe skuadrën e parë.

Përvoja dhe përkushtimi i Besnik Çotës ndihmuan në edukimin dhe formimin e disa brezave të rinj futbollistësh. Ata që punuan me të e kujtojnë si një trajner të matur, korrekt dhe të palodhur.

Ndarja e tij nga jeta është një humbje e madhe për familjen, futbollin librazhdas dhe sportin shqiptar. Besnik Çota dha një kontribut të vyer për klubin e tij të zemrës dhe për të gjithë komunitetin sportiv.
