Since last midnight, a large wildfire has remained active near Palasa, engulfing a hillside. The flames have been fueled by wind and high temperatures, making it difficult to bring them under control from the ground alone.

Firefighters, police officers and protected-area staff have been deployed to the scene. They worked throughout the night to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other areas.

Because of the difficult terrain and the scale of the fire, a helicopter arrived today and is working to extinguish the flames.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, while the operation to bring the fire under control is still ongoing.
