Prishtina is preparing for September 16, the day the Special Court in The Hague is expected to announce the verdict for Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi. KLA flags and symbols have been placed in the capital’s squares and public spaces, while the Municipality of Prishtina has announced that the session will be broadcast live in an open-air setting, in “Skënderbeu” square.

As the decision date approaches, the center of Prishtina has taken on a special look. In addition to placing KLA symbols in various parts of the city, preparations have begun in the main square for activities that will take place during the verdict announcement.

On the big screen, the countdown brings citizens closer to the moment of the decision expected to be handed down in the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague. In Prishtina and in the courtroom in The Hague, the anticipation is tied to the verdict for the four former KLA leaders, while in the capital, preparations are also being made for their possible return.

Deputy Mayor of Prishtina, Besiana Musmurati, stated that the session will be watched together with citizens and organizations that emerged from the war.

“We will organize it with a very large screen where we will invite all citizens to watch the session together with organizations that emerged from the war, and together we hope to celebrate after the decision on the 16th,” said Musmurati.

The decision is also being awaited with concern at the KLA War Veterans Organization. Its representatives demand that the trial be based on evidence and facts, without political influence.

Deputy head of OVL-KLA, Gazmend Syla, said that the organization has considered the Special Court unjust since its establishment and that, according to him, it has strayed from its initial mission.

“As OVL-KLA, to tell you the truth, we are anxiously awaiting these days until the 16th. We have said throughout that this court is unjust, ever since it was established, and then we saw that this court has deviated from the mission for which it was founded. You know that this court was established based on the Dick Marty report, and then this report is no longer mentioned at all since the judicial process began. We freely say that if this court will refer to the basis of evidence and facts, we are convinced that our fellow fighters will be in their homes on September 16,” Syla said.

The wait for the verdict has also begun outside Prishtina. In several municipalities of Kosovo, the “Waiting Clock” has been set up, counting down until the verdict is announced in The Hague.

Prishtina po përgatitet për 16 shtatorin, ditën kur Gjykata Speciale në Hagë pritet të shpallë aktgjykimin ndaj Hashim Thaçit, Kadri Veselit, Jakup Krasniqit dhe Rexhep Selimit. Në sheshet dhe hapësirat publike të kryeqytetit janë vendosur flamuj e simbole të UÇK-së, ndërsa Komuna e Prishtinës ka bërë të ditur se seanca do të transmetohet drejtpërdrejt në ambient të hapur, në sheshin “Skënderbeu”.

Me afrimin e datës së vendimit, qendra e Prishtinës ka marrë një pamje të veçantë. Përveç vendosjes së simboleve të UÇK-së në pjesë të ndryshme të qytetit, në sheshin kryesor kanë nisur përgatitjet për aktivitetet që do të zhvillohen gjatë shpalljes së aktgjykimit.

Në ekranin e madh, numërimi mbrapsht i afron qytetarët me momentin e vendimit që pritet të merret në Dhomat e Specializuara të Kosovës në Hagë. Në Prishtinë dhe në sallën e gjyqit në Hagë, pritja lidhet me verdiktin për katër ish-krerët e UÇK-së, ndërsa në kryeqytet po bëhen përgatitje edhe për kthimin e tyre të mundshëm.

Nënkryetarja e Komunës së Prishtinës, Besiana Musmurati, ka deklaruar se seanca do të ndiqet së bashku me qytetarët dhe organizatat e dala nga lufta.

“Do ta organizojmë në një mënyrë me një ekran shumë të madh ku do të ftojmë të gjithë qytetarët që ta shikojmë së bashku seancën bashkë me organizatat e dala nga lufta edhe bashkë shpresojmë që do të festojmë pas vendimit më 16”, ka thënë Musmurati.

Me shqetësim po e presin vendimin edhe në Organizatën e Veteranëve të Luftës së UÇK-së. Përfaqësuesit e saj kërkojnë që gjykimi të mbështetet te provat dhe faktet, pa ndikime politike.

Nënkryetari i OVL-UÇK-së, Gazmend Syla, ka thënë se organizata e konsideron Gjykatën Speciale të padrejtë që prej themelimit dhe se, sipas tij, ajo është larguar nga misioni fillestar.

“Si OVL-UÇK me ju tregu të drejtën në ankth po i presim këto ditë deri në më datën 16, ne gjatë gjithë kohës e kemi thënë që kjo gjykatë është e padrejtë, qysh kur është themeluar, pastaj e kemi parë që kjo gjykatë ka devijuar nga misioni për çka është themeluar, ju e dini që kjo gjykatë është themeluar mbi raportin e Dick Martyt, pastaj ky raport nuk përmendet fare më prej kur fillon procesi gjyqësor e themi lirisht nëse kjo gjykatë do të thirret mbi bazën e provave dhe fakteve jemi të bindur që bashkëluftëtarët tonë më 16 shtator do të jenë në shtëpitë e tyre”, ka thënë Syla.

Pritja për aktgjykimin ka nisur edhe jashtë Prishtinës. Në disa komuna të Kosovës është vendosur “Ora e pritjes”, e cila numëron mbrapsht deri në shpalljen e verdiktit në Hagë.

The city of Korçë was shaken on August 8 by the killing of Joan Zyko. The 20-year-old lost his life after being shot with a Kalashnikov by his childhood friend. Until 2017, Zyko had been part of Skënderbeu’s academy, where he played goalkeeper for the U-15 team. He was also known as a passionate supporter of the “Snow Wolves.”

Following the tragic incident, Skënderbeu responded through its official page, expressing its grief over the untimely death of the former academy footballer and devoted supporter of the red-and-white colors.

The club’s message emphasized that Joan had been part of the Skënderbeu family, initially as an academy player and later as one of the supporters who held the team in his heart.

Skënderbeu extended its most sincere condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the 20-year-old during these difficult moments.

“Rest in peace, Joan! You will always remain part of the red-and-white family,” the club’s statement concluded.
