Before the meeting of the Central Presidency of the Democratic League of Kosovo, party member Shkëmb Manaj said that Bekim Sejdiu’s candidacy for president of the Republic of Kosovo is expected to receive the support of the LDK structures and its parliamentary group.

Manaj recalled that he had made his position on the candidacy public a day earlier, describing Sejdiu as the right person for the post of president.

According to him, the proposal for a consensus candidate was discussed after a meeting of the parliamentary group held last week. He expressed his belief that both the Central Presidency and the other bodies of the LDK would come out in favor of Bekim Sejdiu’s candidacy.

Asked whether measures could be taken against MPs who do not support the candidacy or who are absent from the vote, Manaj said he did not expect such a situation. He expressed certainty that all LDK MPs would attend the session to elect the president of Kosovo.

Manaj also dismissed reports that six LDK MPs had formed a separate parliamentary group. He said that the parliamentary group remained united and that all MPs were carrying out their duties.

He added that following the meeting of the Central Presidency, a meeting of the parliamentary group would also be held, where the MPs are expected to act in line with the positions and decision of the LDK Central Presidency.

Regarding MP Avdullah Hoti’s statement that he would not vote for the candidacy, Manaj said he believed that Hoti would also take part in the process and support the election of the president, including Bekim Sejdiu’s candidacy.

Para mbledhjes së Kryesisë Qendrore të Lidhjes Demokratike të Kosovës, anëtari i kësaj partie, Shkëmb Manaj, deklaroi se kandidatura e Bekim Sejdiut për president të Republikës së Kosovës pritet të marrë mbështetjen e strukturave të LDK-së dhe të grupit të saj parlamentar.

Manaj rikujtoi se qëndrimin e tij për këtë kandidaturë e kishte bërë publik edhe një ditë më parë, duke e vlerësuar Sejdiun si personin e përshtatshëm për postin e presidentit.

Sipas tij, propozimi për një kandidat konsensual u diskutua pas mbledhjes së grupit parlamentar të zhvilluar javën e kaluar. Ai shprehu bindjen se si Kryesia Qendrore, ashtu edhe organet e tjera të LDK-së, do të pozicionohen në favor të kandidaturës së Bekim Sejdiut.

I pyetur nëse mund të ketë masa ndaj deputetëve që nuk e mbështesin kandidaturën ose që mungojnë në votim, Manaj tha se nuk pret një situatë të tillë. Ai u shpreh i sigurt se të gjithë deputetët e LDK-së do të marrin pjesë në seancën për zgjedhjen e presidentit të Kosovës.

Manaj hodhi poshtë edhe raportimet se gjashtë deputetë të LDK-së kanë formuar një grup të veçantë parlamentar. Ai deklaroi se grupi parlamentar mbetet i bashkuar dhe se të gjithë deputetët po i kryejnë detyrat e tyre.

Ai shtoi se pas mbledhjes së Kryesisë Qendrore do të zhvillohet edhe takimi i grupit parlamentar, ku deputetët pritet të veprojnë në përputhje me qëndrimet dhe vendimin e Kryesisë Qendrore të LDK-së.

Sa i përket deklaratës së deputetit Avdullah Hoti se nuk do ta votonte kandidaturën, Manaj tha se beson që edhe Hoti do të marrë pjesë në proces dhe do të mbështesë zgjedhjen e presidentit, përfshirë kandidaturën e Bekim Sejdiut.

Responding to a question about when the Assembly could be convened, he said the decision rests with LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku and is linked to the completion of the verification procedure.

“It is the decision of the LDK leader, based on the process being completed. The verification is nearing its end,” Manaj said.

In his previous statements, Manaj had announced that the extraordinary Assembly would be held before August 7.

Sipas Manajt, Komisioni ka përmbyllur pjesën kryesore të verifikimeve, ndërsa kanë mbetur vetëm disa delegatë që ende nuk janë lajmëruar. Pas mbylljes së kësaj faze, pritet të përcaktohet data e mbajtjes së Kuvendit.

“Komisioni e ka kry punën më të madhe të verifikimeve, kanë mbetur vetëm disa delegatë që s’janë lajmëru, që ka me përfundu edhe ajo pjesë, dhe pastaj do të caktohet data e Kuvendit”, ka deklaruar Manaj.

Duke iu përgjigjur pyetjes se kur mund të thirret Kuvendi, ai tha se vendimi i takon kryetarit të LDK-së, Lumir Abdixhiku, dhe lidhet me përfundimin e procedurës së verifikimit.

“Është vendim i kryetarit të LDK’së në bazë të procesit që përfundohet. Verifikimi është drejtë fundit”, ka thënë Manaj.
