Civil Protection teams continue to monitor the situation caused by the fire in the Shashica area, above Kava e Gurit.

The fire broke out on the evening of August 25, at around 20:00, and spread rapidly due to the wind, reaching considerable proportions.

Vlora Municipality deployed its resources to tackle the situation. Firefighters intervened on the ground, coordinated the operation and managed to bring the flames under control, extinguishing them in the early hours of the morning. Homes in the area were not directly at risk.

Today, a new hotspot was identified in the area between Vodica and Drashovica. Intervention with vehicles and ground crews is proving more difficult due to the distance and rugged terrain.

The Prefect of Vlora County is continuously monitoring the situation and remains in constant communication with Civil Protection teams, as well as the heads of the fire services of Vlora and Selenica municipalities.

Meanwhile, the necessary resources are being coordinated for any further intervention, while protecting residents’ lives, homes and property remains the top priority.
