The Basic Court in Pristina found Skender Krasniqi guilty and imposed a single sentence of 24 years in prison in connection with the murder of F.Z. The trial panel reclassified the offence from “Aggravated Murder” to “Murder.”

The decision was made public on Wednesday by the trial panel comprising presiding judge Gent Beka and members Gazmend Bahtiri and Sulltane Hoti.

For the criminal offence of “Murder,” Krasniqi was sentenced to 22 years in prison after the offence was reclassified from “Aggravated Murder.” For unauthorized possession of a weapon, he was sentenced to two years and six months in prison. In the end, the court imposed a single sentence of 24 years in prison.

Parties dissatisfied with the verdict may file an appeal after receiving the decision in written form.

Prosecutor Menduhi Kastrati, the injured party and Krasniqi’s defence counsel, lawyer Ilir Ramaj, attended the announcement of the verdict. The defendant was not present.

Krasniqi had pleaded not guilty at the initial hearing held on July 15, 2025.

He was accused of the murder of F.Z., which occurred in August 2024 in Zllakuqan, Lipjan, following a dispute between children, reports “Betimi per Drejtesi.”

According to the indictment filed by the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina on June 30, 2025, Skender Krasniqi was charged with acting on August 7, 2024, in the village of Zllakuqan in Lipjan, following a dispute that had occurred that same day between his son, minor T.K., and minor A.Z., the son of witness B.Z. The latter is the nephew of the late F.Z.

The dispute concerned the minors’ communications on the social media platform TikTok. According to the indictment, T.K. caused serious bodily injuries to A.Z. with a knife. When F.Z. returned from work and learned about the incident, he set off with witness I.Z. toward Skender Krasniqi’s home to find out and clarify what had happened.

The indictment alleges that witness I.Z. spoke with witness N.K., who asked him to leave, telling him that she did not know what had happened. The defendant then came out of the house and headed toward the yard gate, where F.Z. and witnesses I.Z. and F.K. were standing. Witness B.K. also approached them there.

After the conversation ended, F.Z. and I.Z. left the gate of Krasniqi’s home and headed toward the village road. According to the indictment, they saw minor T.K. coming out from the upper part of the yard. Angered, F.Z. and I.Z. headed toward him and entered the defendant’s yard, where an argument involving shouting began. T.K. was holding a knife, which he was asked to drop.

At one point, according to the indictment, witnesses N.K. and B.K. intervened, while the parties began to separate. I.Z. headed toward the road and F.Z. followed him. In those circumstances, it is alleged that Skender Krasniqi took the knife from minor T.K. and, with the intent to kill F.Z., stabbed him twice in succession, causing fatal injuries.

At around 1:02 p.m., F.Z. was taken to the Family Medicine Centre in the village of Magure, in the Municipality of Lipjan, showing no signs of life, where his death was confirmed.

In this case, Krasniqi was initially charged with the criminal offence of “Aggravated Murder,” under Article 173, paragraph 1, point 1.4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

Under the second count of the indictment, Skender Krasniqi was also charged with unauthorized possession of a knife, in violation of the applicable weapons law. According to the prosecution, this was the knife used to inflict fatal injuries on F.Z. In addition, three other knives were found and seized during a search of the defendant’s house and yard.

Under this count, he was charged with the criminal offence of “Unauthorized Ownership, Control or Possession of Weapons,” pursuant to Article 366, paragraph 2 in conjunction with paragraph 1.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

The Basic Court in Prishtina has found former KEK procurement chief Ymer Dragusha guilty of four criminal offenses of abuse of official position or authority in co-perpetration, sentencing him to a unified prison term of two years.

According to the verdict announced today, Dragusha was sentenced to one year in prison on the first count of the indictment, while on the other three counts he received eight months in prison for each.

During the announcement of the decision, it was stated: “The Court, based on Article 76 of the Criminal Code, imposes on the defendant a unified sentence of imprisonment for a duration of 2 (two) years, which sentence shall be executed within 15 days from the date this judgment becomes final.”

The verdict also obliges him to cover the costs of the criminal proceedings, specifically 100 euros in court fees and 100 euros for the crime victims compensation fund.

The court also instructed the State Advocacy Office to pursue the property-related legal claim in regular civil proceedings.

Dragusha had entered into a plea agreement with the Special Prosecution, an agreement that the Court had approved at the hearing of February 7, 2025.

The Court of Appeals has decided to reduce Dejan Pantiq’s sentence from 2 years to 1 year in prison on the charge related to the terrorist attack against the offices of the Municipal Election Commission in North Mitrovica in December 2022. The rest of the Basic Court in Prishtina verdict was upheld, including the 5-year prison sentences for Milun Milenkoviq and Aleksandër Vllajiq, as well as the acquittal of Miomir Vakiq.

On July 28, 2025, the Basic Court in Prishtina had issued a guilty verdict against Dejan Pantiq, Milun Milenkoviq and Aleksander Vlajiq. Under that ruling, Pantiq had been sentenced to 2 years in prison, while Milenkoviq and Vllajiq were each sentenced to 5 years, whereas Miomir Vakiq was acquitted, “Betimi për Drejtësi” reports.

In connection with this case, the Court of Appeals had held a hearing on April 28, 2026 to hear the parties’ appeal claims.

The second-instance decision was taken by the judicial panel composed of Ferit Osmani as presiding judge, and Albina Shabani-Rama and Avni Mehmeti as members.

Meanwhile, it is worth recalling that on June 5, 2026, Vllajiq was also found guilty by the Basic Court in Prishtina of the criminal offense of espionage and was sentenced to 5 years in prison after admitting that he had been an agent of the BIA.

As for the accused Milun Milenkoviq, the Appeals Court assessed his defense appeal and found that the operative part of the decision does not need to expressly contain the form of guilt, as long as it provides a clear description of the criminal offense together with all relevant facts and circumstances.

According to the Appeals Court, in this case the form of guilt is not determined only formally through terms such as “direct intent” or “eventual intent,” but emerges from the factual description of the defendant’s actions, the manner in which they were carried out, his behavior before, during and after the act, as well as from the totality of the evidence examined during the trial.

The Court of Appeals also found that the evidence presented in the first-instance trial is not separate from one another, but forms an uninterrupted chain of evidence.

From the interconnection of this evidence, according to the Appeals Court, it follows that Milun Milenkoviq was present at all key moments of the event: during the group’s gathering phase, at the moment of escalation near the emergency vehicle, and then in the coordinated movement toward the building that was attacked.

In its decision, the Appeals Court stressed that it fully accepts as correct and well-founded the findings of the Basic Court, assessing that it was proven beyond reasonable doubt that Milenkoviq was not only present at the scene, but had actively participated in the organized attack on the offices of the Municipal Election Commission in North Mitrovica.

The Appeals Court likewise described as unfounded the claim that Milenkoviq’s guilt is not supported by material or personal evidence, reasoning that the case evidence creates a logical and uninterrupted sequence leading to the conclusion that he participated in committing the terrorist offense.

For the accused Aleksandër Vllajiq, the Appeals Court found that the first-instance court had convincingly established his presence at the scene on December 6, 2022, acting jointly with the other accused in this criminal case, Milenkoviq, as well as with other suspects still at large.

According to the decision, the first-instance court had established a consistent, clear factual situation supported by interconnected evidence that complements one another and rules out any reasonable doubt that Vllajiq’s presence was passive or accidental.

From all the evidence, the decision states, it follows that Aleksandar Vllajiq was at the scene, observed, took photographs, communicated by phone at the decisive moment of the arrival of police and election officials, and also helped further mobilize the crowd.

For this reason, the Appeals Court assessed that the factual situation had been clarified correctly, fully and reliably, while the defense claims fail to overturn the first-instance court’s conclusion either on factual grounds or on logical and legal grounds.

The Basic Court in Peja has issued its ruling in the case known as “Orenda,” which concerns the abuse of an elderly woman at a nursing home in 2022.

According to the court’s decision, Aurona Pelaj was found guilty after it was proven that she intentionally used physical force against the victim. For this offense, she was sentenced to 2 years and 3 months in prison.

This sentence will also include the time spent in detention, from November 2, 2022 to November 24, 2022, while the remainder of the sentence will be served after the verdict becomes final.

In addition to the prison sentence, the Court also imposed a supplementary measure against Aurona Pelaj, banning her from practicing the nursing profession for five years, Klan Kosova reports.

Meanwhile, Altina Rexhepi was acquitted. She had been charged with using force against the victim in co-perpetration with Aurona Pelaj by holding the victim’s hands during the incident, but the Court decided to clear her of the charge.

As for defendant Remzie Kuqi, the Court dismissed the charge of the criminal offense of “Assault,” after the Prosecution withdrew from criminal prosecution on that count of the indictment.

The “Orenda” case had sparked strong public reaction in November 2022, after footage was published showing the physical abuse of an elderly woman by employees of the nursing home.
