According to him, convening the assembly cannot necessarily be described as urgent, although the deadline for forming institutions imposes such a process.

“The LDK is dealing with procedural matters required under the statute of the Democratic League of Kosovo, as well as organisational work aimed at organising the Assembly as quickly and efficiently as possible, so that delegates can express their will following the Assembly’s call by the signatories who submitted their signatures yesterday. Now, I do not want to describe it as an urgent Assembly, but certainly the date for the constitution of the institutions imposes this on us, although it is the responsibility of the leading party to begin work and speed up those procedures. Otherwise, the parliamentary group exists, the deputies have been elected, and I guarantee that it is functional, taking into account the organisation of the LDK Assembly,” he said.

Ferati also dismissed reports published yesterday about an agreement reached between VV and the LDK, under which the LDK would receive three ministries and the post of parliamentary speaker.

He described the reports as propaganda and speculation unsupported by official sources.

“It is entirely propaganda, speculation at a poor level, especially at the time it emerged. Again, I stress: without a source for the information, without citing any representative or any official information from the LDK, it is speculation and it does not stand. Moreover, the chairman declared his positions yesterday through a video message and described the need to suspend negotiations with the Vetëvendosje Movement until our internal issues are resolved,” he said.

Speaking about the extraordinary assembly, Ferati stressed that it would not be competitive, but would serve as a confidence vote for Abdixhiku.

“The Assembly’s conveners have set out the request for which they called the Assembly. It is not a competitive Assembly; in practice, it is an Assembly for a confidence vote. It is not an Assembly where other candidacies can be announced, practically speaking, according to the call by the signatories who convened the Assembly,” he said.

So far, 151 signatures seeking the dismissal of chairman Abdixhiku have been submitted to the LDK secretariat.

Noka received 184 votes in the race for secretary general, while his opponent, MP Saimir Korreshi, received 84 votes.

In the races for secretarial positions, Klevis Balliu was elected organisational secretary, Andi Mustafaj took the post of human resources secretary, while Ylli Asllani was elected secretary for local government.

Agron Gjekmarkaj and Gazment Bardhi will continue to hold the posts of Democratic Party vice presidents. Meanwhile, Belind Këlliçi defeated Luçiano Boçi by a margin of 64 votes.

Secretary General: Flamur Noka received 184 votes, while Sajmir Korreshi received 84 votes.

Vice President from party structures: Belind Këlliçi secured 177 votes and Luçiano Boçi 113 votes.

Youth Vice President: Xhonatan Pano received 101 votes, while Nikola Kedhi received 174 votes.

Diaspora Vice President: Besa Manaj received 69 votes and Erisa Bajaziti received 193 votes.

Organisational Secretary: Agron Loka secured 86 votes, while Klevis Balliu received 197 votes.

European Integration Secretary: Fjoralba Dizdari secured 172 votes and Silvia Hasaj 107 votes.

Local Government Secretary: Agron Haxhimali received 78 votes, while Ylli Asllani received 179 votes.

Ferati stressed that the news circulating about this initiative is not based on any official data and described them simply as speculation.

“In the reports of those portals, I did not notice any clear source of information. It all remains in the realm of assumptions. I am at the headquarters and there is nothing concrete, no submission of signatures and no official notice,” Ferati stated.

This statement comes after rumors that on July 14 the necessary signatures would be submitted to convene the LDK Assembly, where confidence in chairman Lumir Abdixhiku would be discussed.

Our newspaper reported last week that the mayor of Peja, Gazmend Muhaxheri, is leading this movement, traveling through LDK branches across the country to gather signatures of delegates seeking a confidence vote for Abdixhiku.

The call to dismiss the chairman stems from internal dissatisfaction with the party’s performance in the June 7 elections.

Initially, Abdixhiku was called upon to resign, but he described such a step as unacceptable.

In those elections, LDK secured only 16.69 percent of the votes, being represented by 18 deputies in the Assembly of Kosovo.

The party statute stipulates that the signatures of one-third of the Assembly members do not bring about the immediate dismissal of the leader, but simply pave the way for the formal raising of the confidence issue.

The LDK Assembly consists of 355 delegates elected by the local branches, including the current chairman Lumir Abdixhiku himself.

In January of this year, Abdixhiku survived a confidence motion in the party assembly, after a disappointing result in the December 28 elections of last year.
