Former Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji has described Sali Berisha’s trip to the United States as a positive development, linking the move to improved relations between the DP and Albania’s strategic ally.

Salianji nevertheless argues that the opposition’s main political problem is not in Washington, but in Tirana.

According to him, the DP remains constrained by the past and by the clashes surrounding Berisha’s figure, while it must prove to citizens that it is capable of offering a governing alternative.

In his statement, Salianji says that Edi Rama no longer enjoys the support of the citizens, but stresses that the prime minister can be removed only through a credible opposition.

For this reason, he calls on Berisha to reflect and consider resigning, as a step that would pave the way for change within the Democratic Party.

According to Salianji, Berisha’s trip highlights a paradox: he can travel to the United States, but politically he is unable to move forward in Albania.

He claims that Berisha cannot persuade Fier to organize a meeting, is unable to visit the city and cannot win Shkodra, cannot hold a meeting or mobilize Vlora, cannot organize a meeting in Berat, and is not accepted by protesters in Tirana.

Salianji also adds that, above all, Berisha is unable to convince the majority of Albanians that he represents the solution for the country’s future.

For the former Democratic Party MP, any positive development that may come from Washington does not change the fact that the DP’s challenge lies in Tirana.

“Edi Rama will not be removed by constantly bringing back the past. He can be removed only by building an alternative that Albanians believe can replace him. Today, the main obstacle to this alternative is the fact that the DP continues to be held hostage by a battle over the past, instead of focusing on building the future,” Salianji says.

He describes the trip as an opportunity for Sali Berisha, away from the noise of daily events, to consider the request that may be made of him: resignation.

Salianji calls on Berisha to accept that his history cannot forever coincide with the history of the Democratic Party.

“A party cannot remain hostage to one individual. A dignified resignation would not be a personal loss, but could represent his final major political contribution to Albania and the Democratic Party,” he continues.

According to Salianji, if Berisha places the public interest above everything else and genuinely cares about the Democratic Party, he must give this political force what he has so far been unable to secure for it: the opportunity to win.

“Albania needs an opposition that wins, not an opposition that merely survives. The time for change is now. Edi Rama has lost popular support, and citizens are waiting for the opposition to change so that they can remove the prime minister as soon as possible,” concludes Ervin Salianji’s statement.

Sipas tij, PD-ja vazhdon të mbetet e kushtëzuar nga e kaluara dhe nga përplasjet që lidhen me figurën e Berishës, ndërsa duhet t’u dëshmojë qytetarëve se është në gjendje të ofrojë një alternativë qeverisëse.

Në reagimin e tij, Salianji shprehet se Edi Rama nuk gëzon më mbështetjen e qytetarëve, por thekson se largimi i kryeministrit mund të arrihet vetëm përmes një opozite të besueshme.

Për këtë arsye, ai i kërkon Berishës të reflektojë dhe të shqyrtojë dorëheqjen, si një hap që do t’i hapte rrugën ndryshimit në Partinë Demokratike.

Sipas Salianjit, udhëtimi i Berishës nxjerr në pah një paradoks: ai mund të shkojë në Shtetet e Bashkuara, por politikisht nuk arrin të ecë përpara në Shqipëri.

Ai pretendon se Berisha nuk mund të bindë Fierin të organizojë një takim, nuk e viziton dot dhe nuk mund të fitojë Shkodrën, nuk arrin të zhvillojë një takim apo të mobilizojë Vlorën, nuk mund të organizojë takim në Berat dhe është i papranuar nga protestuesit në Tiranë.

Gjithashtu, Salianji shton se, mbi të gjitha, Berisha nuk është në gjendje të bindë shumicën e shqiptarëve se përfaqëson zgjidhjen për të ardhmen e vendit.

Për ish-deputetin demokrat, çdo zhvillim pozitiv që mund të vijë nga Uashingtoni nuk e ndryshon faktin se sfida e PD-së ndodhet në Tiranë.

“Edi Rama nuk largohet duke rikthyer vazhdimisht të shkuarën. Ai mund të largohet vetëm përmes ndërtimit të një alternative që shqiptarët e besojnë si zëvendësuese të tij. Sot, pengesa kryesore për këtë alternativë është fakti që PD-ja vazhdon të mbahet peng i një beteje për të shkuarën, në vend që të përqendrohet te ndërtimi i së ardhmes”, shprehet Salianji.

Ai e cilëson udhëtimin si një mundësi që, larg zhurmës së përditshme, Sali Berisha të mendojë për kërkesën që mund t’i drejtohet: dorëheqjen.

Salianji kërkon që Berisha të pranojë se historia e tij, nuk mund të përkojë përgjithmonë me historinë e Partisë Demokratike.

“Një parti nuk mund të mbetet peng i një individi. Një dorëheqje dinjitoze nuk do të ishte humbje personale, por mund të përbënte kontributin e fundit të madh politik për Shqipërinë dhe Partinë Demokratike”, vijon ai.

Sipas Salianjit, nëse Berisha e vendos interesin publik mbi gjithçka dhe e do realisht Partinë Demokratike, duhet t’i japë kësaj force politike atë që deri tani nuk ka mundur t’ia sigurojë: mundësinë për të fituar.

“Shqipëria ka nevojë për një opozitë që fiton, jo për një opozitë që thjesht mbijeton. Koha për ndryshim është tani. Edi Rama e ka humbur mbështetjen popullore dhe qytetarët presin ndryshimin e opozitës për ta larguar kryeministrin një orë e më parë”, përfundon reagimi i Ervin Salianjit.

Former Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji has accused Edi Rama’s government of misusing public money, raising doubts about how the Ministry of Defense conducted the tender for purchasing firefighting planes.

According to Salianji, questions about the selection procedure arise from a document by EFA Ventures, one of the largest groups in the defense industry.

He says this company submitted an offer for 3 Thrush 710P firefighting planes, which fully met the requirements and were within the Ministry of Defense’s budget.

However, after initially being declared the winner, the offer was disqualified and the contract was awarded to Air Tractor SRL, with a value 2.7 million euros higher.

The former Democratic MP demanded an explanation for why tenders are repeatedly won by companies that present the most expensive offers.

He also asked where the planes are now and whether they are ready to be used to assist during critical situations.

Salianji called for full transparency from the Ministry of Defense and the publication of every document related to this procedure.

He raised questions as well about the winning company and its legal troubles in other European Union countries.

According to him, Albania is being treated by Rama as personal property, where favors worth millions of euros are granted, while citizens face the consequences daily.

Salianji stressed that when national security is affected and the effective protection of life, property, and Albania’s forests from fires is put at risk, the process must be entirely transparent and accountable.

He declared that the Ministry of Defense has the obligation to make all tender documentation available to the public and to give Albanians complete answers.

At the same time, he called on the Special Prosecution, SPAK, to investigate the procedure, which he described as a process that raises suspicions of a corrupt affair.

In his full statement, Salianji declared that Edi Rama’s government is not abandoning corruption and abuse of public funds. He reiterated that the Ministry of Defense declared a company with an offer 2.7 million euros higher the winner, while the planes are still absent.

Ai thotë se kjo kompani paraqiti një ofertë për 3 avionë zjarrfikës Thrush 710P, të cilët përmbushnin plotësisht kërkesat dhe qëndronin brenda buxhetit të Ministrisë së Mbrojtjes.

Megjithatë, pasi fillimisht ishte shpallur fituese, oferta u skualifikua dhe kontrata iu dha kompanisë Air Tractor SRL, me një vlerë 2.7 milionë euro më të lartë.

Ish-deputeti demokrat kërkoi që qytetarëve t’u shpjegohet përse tenderët fitohen vazhdimisht nga kompanitë që paraqesin ofertat më të shtrenjta.

Ai pyeti gjithashtu se ku ndodhen aktualisht avionët dhe nëse janë gati të përdoren për të ndihmuar gjatë situatave kritike.

Salianji kërkoi transparencë të plotë nga Ministria e Mbrojtjes dhe publikimin e çdo dokumenti që lidhet me këtë procedurë.

Ai ngriti pikëpyetje edhe për kompaninë fituese dhe problemet e saj me ligjin në vende të tjera të Bashkimit Europian.

Sipas tij, Shqipëria po trajtohet nga Rama si pronë personale, ku jepen favore me vlerë miliona euro, ndërkohë që qytetarët përballen çdo ditë me pasojat.

Salianji theksoi se, kur preket siguria kombëtare dhe vihet në rrezik mbrojtja efektive e jetës, pronës dhe pyjeve të Shqipërisë nga zjarret, procesi duhet të jetë tërësisht transparent dhe i kontrollueshëm.

Ai deklaroi se Ministria e Mbrojtjes ka detyrimin të vërë në dispozicion të publikut të gjithë dokumentacionin e tenderit dhe t’u japë shqiptarëve përgjigje të plota.

Në të njëjtën kohë, i bëri thirrje Prokurorisë së Posaçme, SPAK, të hetojë procedurën, të cilën e cilësoi si një proces që ngre dyshime për aferë korruptive.

Në reagimin e tij të plotë, Salianji deklaroi se qeveria e Edi Ramës nuk po heq dorë nga korrupsioni dhe abuzimi me fondet publike. Ai përsëriti se Ministria e Mbrojtjes shpalli fituese një kompani me ofertë 2.7 milionë euro më të lartë, ndërsa avionët vijojnë të mungojnë.

Ervin Salianji, a former Democratic Party MP, reacted today to the large protests that have continued in the capital for 56 days, with the 57th consecutive day taking place today. During a television interview, he said Prime Minister Edi Rama had broken the pledge he made to the people, referring to a recent proposal he presented to citizens in the form of a document. In his view, both Rama and former Prime Minister Sali Berisha are figures who have been left behind by the country’s political times.

According to him, this citizens’ movement is unprecedented in Albania because of its massive and sustained participation. He praised the people’s persistence as an admirable example as they demand Rama’s resignation. “Neither the World Cup nor the high temperatures have diminished their determination. This reaction has drawn extraordinary energy from the people. Today, Edi Rama and Sali Berisha appear outdated and overtaken by time,” he said.

Salianji further emphasized that the protest’s longevity has made it more appealing to citizens and that it will lead to their departure from the political scene. He noted that the two long-standing leaders protect each other to safeguard their personal interests and have turned their parties into private property. Referring to public perceptions, he added that the protesters are instinctively responding in the right way to what he called a captured political system that no longer serves anyone.

Analyzing the reasons for this participation, he stressed that every citizen is taking to the streets over their own personal hardships, faced with a system that no longer represents them. “When representation is absent and everything operates in the service of personal interests, this moment becomes inevitable. This protest honors the wisdom of the Albanian people,” he said. According to him, for months he has stated during his meetings that Berisha is an obstacle to development and that Albanians no longer want Rama in power.

He also commented on Rama’s latest proposal for a new Assembly. Salianji linked it to a breach of the contract with voters, invoking the symbolism of besa—an ancient and sacred Albanian institution involving one’s solemn pledge. He stressed that reviving, after centuries, a concept that holds value in human relations but not in the political sphere represents a step backward. Besa once upheld one’s pledged word and helped resolve blood feuds or governed the welcoming of guests, while Rama, according to him, has violated it by failing to honor the fundamental agreement with the people.

Duke iu referuar perceptimit publik, ai shtoi se protestuesit me intuitë po bëjnë reagimin e duhur ndaj atij që e quajti sistem politik të kapur, që nuk i shërben më askujt.

Duke analizuar arsyet e kësaj përfshirjeje, ai nënvizoi se çdo qytetar del për hallin e tij personal, përballë një sistemi që nuk i përfaqëson më. “Kur mungon përfaqësimi dhe gjithçka funksionon për interesa personale, ky moment bëhet i pashmangshëm. Kjo protestë e nderon mençurinë e popullit shqiptar”, tha ai. Sipas tij, prej muajsh në takimet e tij ka përmendur se Berisha përbën një pengesë për zhvillimin dhe se Ramën shqiptarët nuk e duan më në pushtet.

Komenti i tij u ndal edhe tek oferta e fundit e Ramës për një Kuvend të ri. Kritike u tregua gjithashtu Ina Zhupa, e cila mbështeti shqetësimet e ngritura nga Leskaj, duke vënë në dyshim dobinë që sjell ky veprim për forcat opozitare.

“Today the Democratic Party should have given voice to the anger of citizens and young people who have started and are sustaining the longest popular revolt of recent years in Albania,” Salianji emphasizes in his post.

At the end of his post, Salianji stresses that Albanians must continue to demand the removal of the Berisha-Rama duo.

The boycott of the parliamentary session is the greatest service that could be done for Edi Rama.

In the darkest days of this government, when citizens are in revolt and corrupt affairs have been exposed one after another, Sali Berisha once again chooses to come to Edi Rama’s aid, behaving like a co-conspirator and part of a co-governing arrangement!

Today Parliament should have been boiling. It should have been the arena where a decayed and morally ruined government was put with its back against the wall. Today the Democratic Party should have given voice to the anger of citizens and young people who have started and are sustaining the longest popular revolt of recent years in Albania.

But, it seems, Sali Berisha’s personal interest does not allow the Democratic Party to breathe, to fulfill its opposition mission, and to represent the citizens.
