The Tirana Court has ordered the detention in custody of Argys Kalasi, the 32-year-old arrested two days ago for robbing a jewelry store in Paskuqan.

Before the court, Kalasi denied involvement in the robbery, which took place on August 5, and claimed that he had no connection to the mask used by the perpetrators during the incident.

“I like masks and use them for Halloween. After celebrating, I would throw them away. This could be one of those masks,” the 32-year-old stated.

Meanwhile, Kalasi refused to provide information about the other person suspected of taking part in the jewelry store robbery.

Tirana Police and officers of Police Station No. 5 have arrested one of the suspected perpetrators of the armed robbery that occurred in Paskuqan.

It is reported that Argys Kalsi has been taken into custody; according to sources, he was arrested at Qafë Thanë while trying to leave Albania.

It is learned that as he attempted to cross the border, Kalsi was stopped and arrested by police services.

Sources indicate that the young man had been identified days earlier by Tirana Police as one of the suspected perpetrators of the robbery.

However, his arrest had been postponed because investigators were keeping him under surveillance and carrying out other investigative actions in order to identify and capture the second accomplice.

Meanwhile, Tirana Police continues investigations to identify and arrest the second suspected perpetrator of the robbery.

Kamëz/Intensive investigative actions continue to identify and capture the perpetrators of the theft of a quantity of jewelry from a jewelry store in Kamëz on 05.08.2026.

One of the suspected perpetrators is identified, caught and handcuffed.

During the investigation period, the automatic firearm, motorcycle, clothing, silicone masks and a magazine with cartridges are seized.

Crime Investigation Specialists of Police Station No. 5, as a result of intensive investigative and procedural work carried out over several weeks, using proactive methods, under the direction of the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office, have finalized the coded operation “Gold,” making possible the identification, capture and arrest of the citizen:

-A. K., 35 years old, resident in Laç.

From investigations, it is suspected that this citizen, in cooperation with another citizen who has not yet been identified, stole a quantity of jewelry from a jewelry store on 05.08.2026, and then fled on a motorcycle.

Following uninterrupted investigative actions and intensive field searches, on 06.08.2026, in a wooded area of the village of Zgafnur, an automatic firearm, a magazine with cartridges, a motorcycle helmet painted gray, two silicone masks, a pair of gloves, and other clothing suspected of being used by the perpetrators during the criminal offense were found and seized as material evidence.

Also, on 09.08.2026, at the place called “Liqeni i Qinamit,” in the village of Qinam, a motorcycle suspected of being used by the perpetrators during the criminal offense was found and seized as material evidence.

Work continues to identify and capture the other accomplice, as well as to fully document the case.

The procedural materials were handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office for the criminal offenses “Robbery with violence committed in cooperation” and “Unauthorized possession and production of explosive weapons and ammunition.”

Police Station No. 5 is continuing its investigation into the jewelry store robbery in Paskuqan. According to sources, the two masked individuals took the same route both before and after committing the theft.

Security camera footage shows that the perpetrators traveled through side streets on the outskirts of Kamëz, avoiding the main roads. They followed the same route while fleeing after the robbery.

Inside the jewelry store, the robbers took only gold items, estimated to be worth more than 1.5 million lek. The route they chose has led investigators to suspect that they know the area well.

Investigators also suspect that one of the perpetrators may have visited the store as a customer several days earlier, as the robbers knew exactly where the high-value jewelry was kept. The possibility that other accomplices were involved in the incident has not been ruled out.

The two perpetrators are not the individuals who carried out the May 16 robbery at another jewelry store in Kamëz, as both suspects in that case have been arrested.

According to the official statement, at around 14:50, two still-unidentified individuals entered the jewelry store owned by a citizen with the initials L. L.

Threatening the female employees with an object that appeared to be a firearm, they took a quantity of jewelry.

They fled toward the Agricultural Institute in an attempt to cover their tracks.

Immediately after receiving the report, police officers arrived at the scene, set up checkpoints and began searches in the area to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, the investigative team is working to collect evidence in order to identify the perpetrators, fully establish the circumstances of the incident and document the case.

Kamëz Police statement:

“On 05.08.2026, at around 14:50, in Paskuqan, 2 still-unidentified individuals entered the jewelry store owned by citizen L. L. and, threatening the female employees with an object that appeared to be a firearm, took a quantity of jewelry.

Immediately after receiving the report, police officers went to the scene, set up checkpoints and are conducting searches to apprehend the perpetrators.

The investigative team is working to secure every piece of evidence that will lead to the identification and apprehension of the perpetrators, as well as the full documentation of the case.”

The prosecution file describes that on January 28, 2026, T.B. and A.J. had used the threat of a dangerous weapon to take 1,040 euros from a money transfer counter in the city of Peja.

Likewise, T.B. and A.K. are implicated in another incident that occurred on December 21, 2025, when they allegedly robbed the amount of 620 euros from a pharmacy.

Investigations have revealed that the same T.B. also committed the offense of grand theft, attempting to forcibly break into a pharmacy. Later, he allegedly stole money and a mobile phone from another establishment, leaving behind material damage as well.

As for the defendant V.D., the prosecution alleges that he offered assistance to the perpetrators of the January 28 robbery, promising them shelter after the crime and transporting them in his car.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the prosecution has recommended to the Basic Court in Peja that the defendants be found guilty and receive the deserved punishments according to the law in force.
