In a reaction on social media, she drew attention to the fact that European MEPs have taken part in protests in Tirana and spoken against Prime Minister Edi Rama’s government, criticizing it for corruption, lack of transparency, and disregard for citizens’ voices.

Gjema raised the question of why this is seen as support for democracy, while reactions from Albanians in Kosovo are labeled as interference in Albania’s internal affairs.

When protests are held in Albania, it’s not only Albanians in the square. There are also MEPs who go and speak in front of the citizens.

Five European MEPs took part in the 30th protest calling for Edi Rama’s removal:

🇩🇪 Daniel Freund

🇮🇹 Cristina Guarda

🇩🇪 Jutta Paulus

🇳🇱 Anna Strolenberg

They delivered speeches before the protesters and criticized the Rama government for corruption, lack of transparency, and disrespect for the voice of the people.

And now, a question for those who have worn us out with the refrain:

“We have no business interfering in Albania’s internal affairs.”

Oh really?

Then why are these foreigners interfering?

Or does that only apply when it comes to Kosovars?

You even insult us…

So, MEPs can come out to protest in the middle of Tirana and be considered supporters of democracy and the rule of law.

But us, for our own nation, NO?!

Don’t you brave ones who shout and insult have any critical words for them as well?

Could it be that these MEPs too are being paid “by Serbia, Greece and Iran”?!

Come on, dare to say something:

What exactly were the MEPs looking for, coming to Tirana to spoil your buddy Rama’s mood?

As for double standards, by now you’ve become open books.

You know who I’m talking about.😜
