AVONET has responded to the lack of school registers in educational institutions across the Republic of Kosovo, four days after the start of the new school year.

According to the network of non-governmental organizations, the register is an essential tool for recording, documenting and managing the teaching process. AVONET considers it unacceptable that teachers still do not have this tool several days after classes began, raising serious concerns about institutional planning and coordination.

“Four days without a basic work tool are an indication of a failure in institutional planning and coordination,” AVONET said in its response.

The organization is seeking answers from the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation as to why the registers were not provided and distributed before the start of the teaching process, as well as who is responsible for the delay.

AVONET believes that this shortage cannot simply be regarded as an administrative problem or an insignificant delay.

“It is incomprehensible that Kosovo should be talking about far-reaching reforms in education, digitalization, improving quality and modernizing the education system while schools face a lack of basic tools needed to conduct and document the teaching process,” the organization stressed.

AVONET has called on the Ministry of Education to urgently publish the reasons for the lack of registers, the measures taken to supply schools, the specific deadline by which all educational institutions will receive them, and to clarify institutional responsibility for the situation.

According to the organization, students, parents and teachers need responsible, organized institutions capable of fulfilling their obligations on time, not excuses.
