Berisha stressed that bringing the protest to a successful conclusion is a duty to the victims of the dictatorship and the martyrs of freedom.

“We must do everything to ensure that its mission is successfully completed. Everyone’s contribution is extraordinary. This is the greatest honor we can pay to the martyrs of freedom, to those who fell for the nation,” Berisha said.

He accused the Rama government of authoritarianism and said Albanians must be ready for a “decisive battle” to change the political situation in the country.

“Edi Rama is now, before the whole world, a tyrant. But tyrants never leave on their own. Therefore, every Albanian man and woman must be prepared for the decisive battle against this regime, to save Albania,” the DP leader said.

According to Berisha, confronting the current government is also tied to a responsibility toward the country’s future and the younger generations.

According to the institution, as soon as the report was received, four assistant commissioners were deployed on the ground. They first went to QSUT, but the citizen’s health condition made it impossible to interview him.

On the other hand, referring to the medical documentation and repeated health crises, the Ombudsman considers that the citizen’s stay in a cell poses a risk to his health and is contrary to the standards of Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

For this reason, the institution has asked the Prosecution and the Court to urgently review the security measure and replace it with another one appropriate to the citizen’s health condition.

In Skanderbeg Square, participants in the gathering appeared with symbolic cakes bearing messages directed at the head of government.

Asked whether the police reacted disproportionately and whether the protest went beyond the limits of a peaceful gathering, he said the event should be analyzed in three separate stages.

“First is the initial tension, which in these cases is justified, because this is not a summer day, but a situation of anger. Second comes the escalation, when clashes begin, and that is where the individual responsibility of each protester comes into play in relation to the law and the actions they take,” Karamuço said.

He underlined that for every action carried out during the protest, each person bears individual responsibility, both in relation to the police and to other citizens.

“And third, which I do not forgive and will never forgive, is the destabilization of the country,” he stressed.

Karamuço added that this is precisely his main concern, while the first two phases, in his view, do not constitute a reason for alarm.

“I am not worried about the first two. I am calm about only one thing: that it does not cross into the destabilization of the country. Many of those who take to the streets in protests today did not live through ’97 and do not know what happens when the country falls into instability,” he said.
