Socialist MP Erion Braçe said on Wednesday, during a conversation with Erla Mëhilli on the “Now” program, that he remains determined to run for mayor of Tirana. Commenting on developments within the Socialist Party and the overall political situation in the country, he made it clear that he would continue the battle he has begun.

Asked by Mëhilli whether he was still committed to his plan to run in the capital, Braçe said the issue had not received attention because of the algorithm and the focus on the protest. He stressed that he had given no indication that he was withdrawing and that he was not seeking to be appointed, receive favors, gain a career opportunity, or be rewarded for the work he had done so far.

According to Braçe, his demand is for the candidate to be selected through a process in which Socialists make the decision. The MP said he would seek their votes, as well as the support of citizens considered undecided. He is calling for an open and democratic contest that will produce the candidate who will take Tirana’s transformation to a new stage and standard.

When the host asked how he would proceed if Rama did not take his proposal into consideration, Braçe replied that the battle would continue. He emphasized that holding internal elections is a statutory obligation and that the race for Tirana would help strengthen democracy within the party.

Braçe said he was ready to compete against Ogerta, Arbër, or any other candidate, adding that the Socialist Party has no reason to take a step backward.

I pyetur nga Mëhilli nëse i qëndron ende projektit për të kandiduar në kryeqytet, Braçe tha se kjo çështje nuk ka marrë vëmendje për shkak të algoritmit dhe fokusit te protesta. Ai theksoi se nuk ka dhënë asnjë sinjal tërheqjeje dhe se nuk synon të emërohet, të përfitojë favore, të marrë një mundësi karriere apo të shpërblehet për punën e kryer deri më tani.

Sipas Braçes, kërkesa e tij është që kandidati të përcaktohet përmes një procesi ku vendimin ta marrin socialistët. Deputeti u shpreh se do të kërkojë votën e tyre, por edhe mbështetjen e qytetarëve të konsideruar gri. Ai kërkon një garë të hapur dhe demokratike, prej së cilës të dalë kandidati që do ta çojë transformimin e Tiranës në një etapë dhe standard të ri.

Kur moderatorja e pyeti se si do të vepronte nëse Rama nuk do ta merrte parasysh propozimin e tij, Braçe u përgjigj se beteja do të vijojë. Ai nënvizoi se zhvillimi i zgjedhjeve të brendshme përbën detyrim statutor dhe se gara për Tiranën i shërben forcimit të demokracisë brenda partisë.

Braçe deklaroi se është i gatshëm të konkurrojë me Ogertën, Arbrin apo cilindo emër tjetër, duke shtuar se Partia Socialiste nuk ka asnjë arsye të bëjë hapa pas.

During Wednesday’s edition of “Now with Erla Mëhilli,” Erion Braçe commented on the disputes within the Socialist Party. He said that an internal battle is taking place within the party and that some people are trying to eliminate him politically.

Braçe said his messages are made public with the aim of humiliating him, which he described as very serious. According to him, a discussion leaked from a meeting of the Parliamentary Group had also been altered before being presented to the public as: “He told him to fuck off.” He insisted that the incident had not happened that way and that it had been published to target him politically.

The MP said the person who leaked the information wants to remove him from the Parliamentary Group’s internal arena, where that person has seen him for years and regards him as a rival and a problem. Braçe added that he himself has no issue with anyone’s presence and views these people as colleagues.

When Erla Mëhilli asked whether Edi Rama could be behind this, Braçe replied that it was not him, stressing that they were there to speak openly.

He then cited an incident that occurred nearly 46 days earlier, when female MPs were pelted with eggs. Braçe said he had written in the group that the police should be notified and had also spoken up in support of the women, but his message was relayed to the media with the interpretation that he had called for police intervention.

According to Braçe, such conduct has not been directed only against him, as others like him have experienced the same thing. He said he considers these actions attempts to eliminate him, and that this is precisely why he has concluded that there is an internal battle within the Socialist Party.

Braçe tha se mesazhet e tij bëhen publike me synimin për ta poshtëruar, gjë që e cilësoi shumë të rëndë. Sipas tij, edhe diskutimi i dalë nga mbledhja e Grupit Parlamentar ishte ndryshuar përpara se t’i paraqitej publikut në formën: “I tha ik pirdhu”. Ai këmbënguli se ngjarja nuk kishte ndodhur kështu dhe se publikimi ishte bërë për ta goditur politikisht.

Deputeti deklaroi se personi që e nxori këtë informacion kërkon ta largojë nga hapësira e brendshme e Grupit Parlamentar, ku e sheh prej vitesh dhe e konsideron konkurrent e problem. Braçe shtoi se vetë nuk e ka problem praninë e askujt dhe se këta persona i sheh si kolegë.

Kur Erla Mëhilli e pyeti nëse pas kësaj mund të qëndronte Edi Rama, Braçe u përgjigj se nuk ishte ai, duke theksuar se aty ndodheshin për t’i shprehur gjërat hapur.

Ai solli më pas një rast të ndodhur gati 46 ditë më parë, kur gra deputete u goditën me vezë. Braçe tregoi se kishte shkruar në grup që të njoftohej policia dhe kishte reaguar edhe për gratë, por mesazhi i tij ishte përcjellë në media me interpretimin se ai kishte kërkuar ndërhyrjen e policisë.

Sipas Braçes, një sjellje e tillë nuk është drejtuar vetëm kundër tij, pasi të njëjtën gjë e kanë përjetuar edhe persona të tjerë si ai. Ai tha se këto veprime i konsideron përpjekje për eliminim dhe pikërisht për këtë arsye arrin në përfundimin se brenda PS-së ka një luftë të brendshme.

Rama had accused Shehaj of taking a document from the Parliament of Albania, but for the head of the Opportunity Party, this accusation is unacceptable due to the circumstances weighing on the government.

“He dares to mention the word theft. When you have two deputy prime ministers under investigation by SPAK, this is unbelievable. Erion Veliaj has been in jail for two years, suspected of stealing Albanians’ funds. And these are not accusations from the media or the opposition, but from the very justice system that he has built and supported. Now he is trying to escape prison and calls me a thief, because I defended a right. This is the greatest paradox of this country,” Shehaj stated.

Klosi said that the only request made by Edi Rama and the government has been for both sides to sit down, talk, and listen to the concerns raised by the protesters, as well as those related to their demands toward the government. He said this has been the majority’s only approach.

He added that there had been an opportunity from the very first day to create a representative group, but stressed that at present there is only one demand: the government’s resignation. According to Klosi, it is unclear how a government can sit down to negotiate with people aiming to topple it, in order to discuss that very overthrow.

He further stated that there are groups demanding the government’s resignation every day and that this is nothing unusual. According to him, this does not mean the government should resign.

In the end, Klosi said that they themselves have held more protests than the current demonstrators, recalling that they stayed there day and night for days on end. He also added that Berisha did not resign either.

Klosi u shpreh se kërkesa e vetme e bërë nga Edi Rama dhe qeveria ka qenë që të ulen për të biseduar dhe për të dëgjuar shqetësimet që protestuesit kanë, si edhe ato që lidhen me kërkesat ndaj qeverisë. Ai tha se kjo ka qenë e vetmja qasje e mazhorancës.

Ai shtoi se ka pasur mundësi që që në ditën e parë të krijohej një përfaqësi, por theksoi se aktualisht ekziston vetëm një kërkesë: dorëheqja e qeverisë. Sipas Klosit, është e paqartë se si mund të ulet për të negociuar një qeveri me njerëz që synojnë rrëzimin e saj, për të diskutuar pikërisht këtë rrëzim.

Më tej, ai deklaroi se grupe që kërkojnë dorëheqjen e qeverisë ka çdo ditë dhe se kjo nuk përbën ndonjë gjë të pazakontë. Sipas tij, kjo nuk do të thotë se qeveria duhet të japë dorëheqjen.

Në fund, Klosi tha se ata vetë kanë zhvilluar më shumë protesta se sa protestuesit aktualë, duke kujtuar se kanë qëndruar aty me ditë e me natë. Ai shtoi gjithashtu se edhe Berisha nuk dha dorëheqjen.
