Following the public disclosure of details from the indictment against Fatmir Sheholli, Professor Enver Bytyçi reacted sharply, expressing suspicion that the case may represent only one part of a broader Serbian propaganda scheme in Kosovo.

In his response sent to “Bota Sot,” Bytyçi called on the justice authorities to expand the investigation to include other individuals. According to him, they may have received payments through Sheholli to promote Belgrade’s agenda in the media.

Bytyçi says that, according to the investigation, Fatmir Sheholli paid Milaim Zeka 2,000 euros on behalf of Serbia’s BIA. He claims the payment was presented as being linked to a Western organization and was intended solely to secure the publication of a news story serving Serbian interests in Kosovo.

The professor believes that the prosecutors and investigators handling the Sheholli case could identify, without much difficulty, the individuals who, according to him, were funded by Serbia through Fatmir to promote the Serbian agenda via the media in Kosovo.

He claims that some of them have spoken, and continue to speak to this day, as mouthpieces for Aleksandar Vučić. Bytyçi is calling for published articles and YouTube content to be examined, arguing that they could reveal the analysts, journalists and media outlets paid by Belgrade.

He also suggests examining which individuals accuse, for example, the newspaper “Bota Sot” of being a Serbian newspaper, claiming that these very accusers are funded by the BIA.

Concluding his response, Bytyçi says that a spy in Kosovo or Albania can be easily identified because, according to him, they expose themselves.

The statement by PDK MP Xhavit Haliti that “even if we beg Serbia, it will not come to Kosovo” has prompted a reaction from Professor Enver Bytyçi.

Referring to developments that have affected the north of the country and to the Kosovo political leadership’s previous positions toward Serbia, Bytyçi questioned Haliti’s claim.

In his response, which he sent to “Bota sot,” the professor asked what the statement meant and what political position lay behind it.

Bytyçi writes that Xhavit Haliti often comes out with unusual claims. He recalls that, a few years ago, Haliti stated that everyone in Kosovo had two million euros. According to the professor, since Haliti himself has that much money, he thinks others should have the same wealth, describing him as a politician completely detached from reality.

The professor continues by saying that two days ago Haliti made another strange statement when he said that Serbia would not come to Kosovo even if they begged it to. Based on this claim, Bytyçi asks why they then pleaded with Vučić to come and take Kosovo’s valuable assets in the north. He adds that, if Haliti himself did not do this, then his boss did—and that person is now in The Hague.

Bytyçi also emphasizes that Xhavit Haliti has not distanced himself from Hashim Thaçi or from Vlora Çitaku. According to him, Haliti has not even reacted to the integration minister from his own party, who paid from the state budget to lobby in favor of Kosovo’s partition.

Finally, the professor wants to know why Serbia should have been given Kosovo territory if it supposedly has no interest in the country. He asks whether Haliti’s statement should be viewed as a “Valium” intended to put people to sleep or as support for Vučić, so that the international community would accept him as a man of peace, and calls on the MP to explain how it should be understood.

Professor Enver Bytyçi has taken a hard line against an article published in the newspaper “Nacionale,” which addresses responsibility for the spread of communism in Albania and the weight of Albanian and Kosovar historical figures at that time.

In the response sent to the editorial office of “Bota sot,” Bytyçi rejects the interpretations presented in that article, describing them as one-sided and historically inaccurate, especially regarding the role of Ali Kelmendi and Ramadan Çitaku in relation to the main leaders of the communist regime in Albania.

He also expressed strong criticism of the way this topic has been treated in the media, accusing the newspaper of distorting history and using narratives that, according to him, may have a political background and a divisive impact on the Albanian public debate.

The full text

According to the Kosovo newspaper “Nacionale,” those responsible for exporting communism to Albania were supposedly Ali Kelmendi from Peja and Ramadan Çitaku from Mitrovica! Noooo! According to this newspaper, Enver Hoxha, Koçi Xoxe, Mehmet Shehu and others bear no responsibility for all the consequences of the communist regime and ideology in Albania. Instead, Ali Kelmendi is made out to be responsible, even though he died in the very first phase of the spread of communism. At least that is what this divisive and shameless newspaper claims, speaking through the mouth of Sejfi Vllamasi from Kolonja, who himself admitted in his memoir that in Vienna he was financed by the Yugoslav embassy.

The newspaper justifies the fact that Vllamasi had secretly gone to make agreements with Belgrade and attacks the Kosovars and Hasan Prishtina for opposing this action. With this article, Kosovo’s “Nacionale” seemed to me like a “Serbian Nacionale,” not an Albanian one. It even gives me the impression that this newspaper is deliberately attacking the “Kosovars” of the 1920s in order to justify Edi Rama’s pro-Serbian and anti-Kosovo positions and actions over these 13 years! Shamelessness apparently knows no bounds! So I had one piece of advice to give them: Go to Belgrade or Athens and register this newspaper there, because the name “Nacionale,” with this content, suits you better in the Serbian or Greek capital!
