A venue in the Nea Ionia neighborhood of Athens has been engulfed by fire and completely destroyed. The three apartments above it also sustained extensive material damage.

Greek authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident. The cause of the fire has not yet been established, while police suspect it may have been set deliberately.

Police confirmed that this is the same venue where 37-year-old Albanian national Pëllumb Islami was shot dead on February 22, 2023. He was killed by a single gunshot inside the venue.

So far, authorities have not said whether the fire is connected to Islami’s murder or to anyone involved in that incident. Investigators are gathering evidence and witness statements to determine the cause and clarify the circumstances.
