Behgjet Pacoll’s Mabco company has formally accused the Albanian government before the Court of Arbitration of taking over Vlora Airport in order to hand it to Israeli businessman Ron Yeffet.

The sensational claim is part of the lawsuit Mabco filed with the Court of Arbitration in London, seeking an injunction against the Albanian government’s termination of the contract.

It is not known what evidence Pacoll’s company based its allegation on that the government is terminating the concession in order to give it to Ron Yeffet. However, the report was confirmed to Kapital by two confidential sources within the State Attorney’s Office and the Ministry of Infrastructure, who have read the document.

According to them, Pacoll’s lawyers even told the court that Ron Yeffet is a businessman with close ties to the Albanian government.

Mabco has hired the renowned American law firm Patton Boggs as its legal representative in the dispute with the Albanian government. Patton Boggs’ lawyers came to Tirana a few days ago, where they took part in a joint meeting involving Mabco, VIA and 2A Group and the Ministry of Infrastructure.

This was the parties’ first attempt at reconciliation, after the government announced the initiation of proceedings to terminate the concession.

This is the first stage of the arbitration process. Under procedure, the court is now expected to ask the parties very soon to submit their statements of claim on the merits. /Kapitali
