According to the organizers, the protest aims to speak out against an institution that, they claim, has become disconnected from citizens’ concerns and interests.

Meanwhile, heightened security measures are expected.

The area surrounding Parliament is expected to be cordoned off by a large police presence to ensure public order and safety during the protest.

Tensions outside Parliament escalated significantly on Thursday after the assembled protesters managed to breach the first security cordon.

The protesters pushed against the protective barriers and removed the metal fence erected by the State Police.

After breaking through the first barrier, the protesters continued marching toward the Parliament building, stopping in front of the second security perimeter.

At that point, eggs and other objects were thrown at police officers.

Following the incident, police also deployed a water cannon near Parliament, ready for possible intervention.

Citizens will gather today at 8:30 a.m. outside the Albanian Parliament building, as the final plenary session takes place. The protest has entered its 54th day.

Prime Minister Edi Rama’s resignation remains the protesters’ non-negotiable demand.
