A new decision setting out mandatory measures for organizers of festivals, concerts and other public events has been approved by the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure. Its aim is to protect the environment.

With these rules entering into force, organizers must ensure the proper management of waste and the cleanup of venues where events have been held. They are also required to comply with noise limits and take measures to preserve air and water quality and protect nature.

The institution’s announcement emphasizes that environmental protection is a standard that every organizer of public events must implement.

Municipalities have been given the option to require a financial guarantee to restore a venue to an appropriate condition after an event if the activity is assessed as having a greater environmental impact.

The Ministry said that the option of imposing such a financial guarantee on activities with a higher impact represents a new standard of environmental responsibility in Kosovo.

According to the institution, the expansion of cultural and entertainment activities must not be separated from the obligation to care for the environment.

The announcement states that cultural and entertainment activities must develop in parallel with efforts to protect the environment.

Implementation of the measures will be overseen by the Ministry, which has warned that it will not compromise when it comes to compliance with the new standards.

In conclusion, the Ministry of Environment said it will enforce these measures without compromise, as maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility and an obligation to future generations.
