Italy on Friday suspended the Schengen agreement with Spain, closing air and sea borders after the recent influx of irregular migrants into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, Italian state media reported.

Italy’s Interior Ministry ordered the closure after around 50,000 migrants entered Ceuta since Thursday, according to the ANSA news agency.

The decision came after an assessment by the Committee for Migration Analysis and Border Security, chaired by Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Friday described the mass entry of migrants into Ceuta as an “attack” and a “violation of Spain’s territorial integrity,” vowing to restore normality “as soon as possible.”

According to Spain’s Interior Ministry, more than 48,000 of the roughly 50,000 migrants who crossed irregularly into Ceuta since Thursday have already been returned to Morocco.

More than 100 pairs of sneakers from famous rapper Eminem’s personal collection will go up for auction at an event organized by Julien’s Auctions on behalf of the Marshall Mathers Foundation.

The collection includes rare and hard-to-find models from Eminem’s collaborations with major sportswear brands, including special editions such as Jordan x Eminem. Every pair bears the artist’s signature. Tirana police have provided additional information on the fatal accident that shocked the area near the TEG roundabout. Preliminary investigations show that the two people in the heavy vehicle, a concrete pump truck, were foreign nationals.

The truck driver, identified as M. L., around 30 years old, died instantly at the scene. The passenger in the same vehicle, M. A., around 44 years old, was rushed to hospital, but the injuries proved fatal and he died during medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision, Albanian national R. N., around 28 years old, is receiving treatment in hospital. According to official sources, his condition is stable and his life is no longer threatened.

The arrested individual is citizen G. Gj., 45 years old, resident of Durrës, who it turned out was supposed to be at home at the time of the incident, as he was under the security measure of “house arrest” for the same crime.

The police operation codenamed “Reaction” was launched after an immediate report by a female citizen. She stated that, last evening, at the pharmacy where she works in neighborhood no. 12, a person had forcibly stolen a sum of money.

After receiving the report, Durrës Police Commissariat officers organized actions and managed to identify, capture, and handcuff the suspected perpetrator just hours after the crime was committed.

According to police notification, G. Gj. had violated the “house arrest” security measure imposed by the court for theft.

Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the 45-year-old may also be the perpetrator of other thefts.

The case files have been passed to the Durrës Prosecutor’s Office for further actions regarding the criminal offenses of “Robbery” and “Escape of a prisoner from the place of residence”.
