This morning, 65-year-old Viktor Bardhi was killed in a shooting in Ndërfushas, Mirdita. According to preliminary information, Bardhi was found dead in his car, while the perpetrators are suspected of fleeing the scene in a vehicle that was later found burned.

Viktor Bardhi was the brother of Martin Bardhi, who was killed in Rrëshen in 2023. Martin Bardhi’s killing was followed by a series of serious criminal incidents in the Mirdita area and was linked to suspicions of longstanding conflicts and revenge.

This history is one of the leads investigators are expected to examine in connection with today’s attack on Viktor Bardhi.

However, authorities have not yet officially confirmed the motive for the killing.

Following the shooting, police launched an operation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

The investigation is continuing to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.

Who was Martin Bardhi?

Martin Bardhi was known to the Albanian justice authorities, as he was one of the people who attempted to kill Saimir Reçi, the nephew of Kastriot Reçi, who had also previously been killed.

The conflict between Enrik Bardhi, Martin Bardhi’s son, and Saimir Reçi began after one overtook the other on the city’s main road, an incident that was also accompanied by gunfire.

Saimir Reçi and Enrik Bardhi got out of their vehicles and became involved in a physical altercation in the middle of the city.

Enrik Bardhi then went home and, together with his father, Martin Bardhi, took a handgun and fired at the vehicle in which the nephew of Kastriot Reçi was traveling. Kastriot Reçi, the owner of a local television station in Lezhë, was killed by a sniper in Rrëshen in January 2021.

The accident that claimed the life of a 20-year-old, while another 20-year-old and a minor were seriously injured, occurred on the Lurë–Rrëshen road, in the village of Kurbnesh, Mirdita, an uninhabited mountainous area.

It is believed that a vehicle traveling along this route spotted the car down in a ravine and alerted the police about the serious accident.

Photos and footage have emerged of the wrecked car that claimed the life of 20-year-old Claudio Ndoj, who was traveling as a passenger. The vehicle’s driver, also 20-year-old Arli Kacorri, and the other passenger, a 15-year-old, were seriously injured.

Firefighters had to intervene to remove the victims from the car and transport them to an ambulance, as well as to tow the vehicle.

Initial suspicions are that excessive speed may have caused the accident. It should be noted that the road where the accident occurred is a segment with sharp bends and steep terrain, with ravines along the roadside.

Several fire fronts remain active across Lezhë County, while the authorities have deployed personnel and equipment to deal with the situation.

According to the 8:00 a.m. update on August 22, no problems have been reported in the Municipality of Kurbin.

In the Municipality of Lezhë, the fire that came from the village of Vrrith in Pukë remains active on Mount Kashnjet, in the direction of the villages of Kashnjet and Kalivaç.

The fire front is being monitored by three forestry service employees and four members of the administrative unit. The difficult terrain prevents firefighting vehicles from intervening.

Meanwhile, in the Municipality of Mirdita, the fire front in the village of Tenë, in the Rrëshen Administrative Unit, remains active.

Since 6:30 a.m., efforts have been underway to bring the flames under control, involving Armed Forces personnel, firefighting vehicles, forestry service employees and municipal structures.

The fire front in the village of Perlat i Epërm, in the Kthellë Administrative Unit, remains under monitoring, while in the village of Shtuf, in the Kaçinar Administrative Unit, the fire remains active. The authorities report that there is no danger to homes in this area.

As for the infrastructure situation, the supply of drinking water and electricity continues normally. National and rural roads are passable, while heavy traffic has been reported in the city of Lezhë and on the Laç-Lezhë-Shkodër national road.

Water levels in the Drin and Mat rivers remain at minimum levels.

A 38-year-old man from Kosovo lost his life following a serious accident that occurred on Thursday evening on the Rreshen–Kukes highway.

According to preliminary police information, the incident occurred at around 20:00 near the village of Fan. The Kosovar national, identified by the initials L. D., is suspected to have lost control while riding his motor vehicle and ended up off the road.

The injured man was rushed to Rreshen Hospital for medical treatment. However, despite the doctors’ efforts, he was unable to survive his injuries and died.

The investigation team continues to work at the scene to determine the cause of the accident and fully clarify the circumstances in which it occurred.

A 45-year-old man, a resident of Durrës, is suspected of having climbed an electricity pole near his father-in-law’s home to fix the lights.

Me anë të një reagimi në Facebook, Berisha e cilësoi ngjarjen si një nga masakrat më të rënda të diktaturës komuniste. Berisha shkruan në postimin e tij se më 17 gusht 1949, forcat e udhëhequra nga Mehmet Shehu ekzekutuan barbarisht 14 burra nga familjet më të njohura të Mirditës, duke i pushkatuar dhe varur në litar.

Berisha theksoi se pas kësaj masakre, qindra familje mirditore u përndoqën, u internuan në kampet e Tepelenës dhe në vende të tjera, ndërsa mbi 600 burra e gra u martirizuan gjatë 46 viteve të regjimit, për shkak të besimit dhe bindjeve të tyre.

Një ngjarje ka ndodhur ditën e sotme në Mirditë ku shtetasi Paulin Pacuku ka vrarë aksidentalisht gruan e tij.

Mësohet se 61-vjecari po pastronte armën por ajo është shkrepur aksidentalisht duke lënë të vdekur në vend shtetasen Vitore Pacukun 54 vjeçe.

Spitali Rajonal Rrëshen ka njoftuar sallën operative të Komisariatit të Policisë Mirditë, se ishte dërguar nga të afërmit e saj, për ndihmë mjekësore, shtetasja V. P., e plagosur me armë zjarri, e cila si pasojë e dëmtimeve kishte humbur jetën.

Nga verifikimet paraprake të kryera nga shërbimet e Policisë, dyshohet se në fshatin Jezull, Mirditë, në banesë, shtetasi P. P., 61 vjeç, duke pastruar një armë zjarri pistoletë, ka qëlluar aksidentalisht bashkëshorten e tij, shtetasen V. P., 54 vjeçe, e cila është transportuar menjëherë në spital për ndihmë mjekësore, nga të afërmit e saj, por si pasojë e dëmtimeve të marra ka humbur jetën.

Shtetasi P. P. është shoqëruar në ambientet e Komisariatit të Policisë Mirditë, për veprime të mëtejshme procedurale, ndërsa arma e zjarrit pistoletë është sekuestruar në cilësinë e proves materiale.
