Xh.I., employed as assistant director in the Administration Sector at the Customs Directorate, was arrested on suspicion of having demanded over 15,000 euros in bribe for a tender at this directorate.

According to the data, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, through the Bureau of Public Security, provided marked money, which was then given to the suspect.

After taking the amount, he did not comply with police orders and fled. However, after measures and actions taken, officers managed to catch and detain him.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the arrest of the assistant director of administration at the Customs Directorate, announcing that he was caught with a 17,500 euro bribe.

“The Department for the Suppression of Organized and Serious Crime at the Ministry of Internal Affairs is acting in coordination with the competent public prosecutor from the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the Prevention of Corruption. Within the framework of the measures and activities carried out, a person employed as assistant director at the Customs Directorate has been deprived of liberty. He was caught at the moment of receiving 17,500 euros, which were pre-marked funds. After the complete documentation of the case, the corresponding criminal complaint will be submitted to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the Prevention of Corruption,” announced the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Basic Court in Mitrovica has decided to extend by another two months the detention of V.M., a former member of Serbia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs who is being investigated for involvement in the abduction and wounding of Milan Vukashinoviq.

The decision to extend the measure was issued on August 13, 2026, and was subsequently upheld by the Court of Appeals. According to Hateme Haxhaj, spokesperson for the Basic Court in Mitrovica, the defendant’s detention has been extended until October 16, 2026.

“The detention measure against the defendant V.M. has been extended until October 16, 2026,” Haxhaj told the media.

During the initial hearing, held on August 31, 2026, V.M. denied the charges and pleaded not guilty. Following the conclusion of the hearing, the criminal proceedings entered the phase of challenging the evidence.

V.M. has been held in detention since his arrest in December 2025, when the investigation into the case of Milan Vukashinoviq, a Kosovo citizen of Serbian ethnicity, began.

The suspicions arising from the investigation concern the events of November 1, 2025, when Vukashinoviq is suspected of having been wounded and then abducted near Leposaviq by members of the Serbian Gendarmerie.

V.M.’s arrest in Leshak on December 20, 2025, was made public by Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla. The operation was conducted jointly by the Kosovo Police and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency.

Sveçla had stated that V.M. had served in the Kosovo Police following its integration under the 2013 agreement, but later left the force by resigning. According to him, there were suspicions that V.M. was cooperating with Serbia’s security structures and was involved in the Vukashinoviq case.

Under a court-issued search warrant, the Kosovo Police searched V.M.’s home and adjoining premises. As a result of the search, nine mobile phones, one laptop, three documents, a hunting rifle with 39 rounds of ammunition, a hunting ammunition vest and a gun barrel were seized.

The contract is worth €14,985, while the selected supplier is the economic operator “Ndërmarrja Tregtare Grafike Blendi O.P.”

The company was declared the winner following the tender procedure.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that the operator’s bid was assessed as responsive and offering the lowest price. The contract amount is the same as the value planned by the contracting authority.

The procurement will be financed from the Kosovo Consolidated Budget, while the total expenditure will be €14,985.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has informed citizens that, starting Monday, August 17, the office where decisions on the acquisition, reacquisition and loss of citizenship through release are collected will move to a different address.

The office’s new location will be on the first floor of the Civil Registration Agency building on Luan Haradinaj Street in Pristina.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said in its announcement that the move was made to separate the office from the premises of the Division for Foreigners and to provide citizens with more suitable facilities.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a public announcement regarding a new wave of “phishing” cyberattacks, which have been observed recently. These attacks use various communication channels such as SMS, email, websites, mobile apps, and social media platforms to reach potential victims.

According to authorities, the fraudulent messages are disguised as if sent by the Department of Motor Vehicles, appearing as notifications from the “Safe City” system. These communications include a fake link that redirects the recipient to a page where they are asked to make a payment for a traffic fine that does not actually exist.

The Ministry addresses citizens with a series of recommendations to avoid falling prey to these scams. They are advised to be vigilant when browsing the internet, not to click on links or messages of suspicious origin, and never to disclose personal data through unofficial channels. Such data includes bank card numbers, passwords, and identification codes. Citizens are also urged to carefully verify the sender’s address, as legitimate institutions and companies always operate with official domains. Another essential protective measure is the activation of two-factor authentication (2FA) for online accounts, as well as immediate notification to competent authorities or the relevant bank in case they encounter suspicious communications.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs also clarifies that real SMS alerts for detected violations must necessarily come from the sender labeled “MVR-SC”. The content of these official messages always includes the license plate of the vehicle that committed the offense, as well as a link starting with the exact format “https://safecountry.mvr.gov.mk…”.

The Cybercrime Sector within the Ministry of Internal Affairs is conducting intensive investigations and taking necessary actions to detect and penalize the persons responsible for this fraudulent scheme.

A serious road accident occurred on the highway linking Kërçovë and Ohër, involving three vehicles and leaving several people injured, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.

According to official information, the incident happened on July 27, 2026, at around 1:35 p.m., near the village of Drugovë. Three cars were involved in the collision: a “Volkswagen Tiguan” with Prilep license plates, driven by L.M., 76, a resident of Prilep; a “Volkswagen Golf” registered in Skopje, behind the wheel of S.P., 41, from Skopje; and a “Citroën” with Kërçovë plates, piloted by R.R., 48, from the village of Greshnicë in the Municipality of Kërçovë.

As a result of the violent impact, the passenger in the “Citroën,” S.R., 79, also from Greshnica, suffered severe injuries. Meanwhile, the three drivers involved also sustained lighter wounds, along with other passengers: G.R., 45, from Greshnica; C.M., 76, from Prilep; M.P., 34, together with her two minor children, all from Skopje.

The injured were taken for medical evaluation to the Health Center in Kërçovë, where their injuries were assessed. The Kërçovë police dispatched a team to the accident site to carry out the necessary inspection, the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ statement said./Telegrafi/

A police operation carried out in Skopje led to the arrest of two individuals after a significant quantity of drugs was discovered. Law enforcement found five kilograms of marijuana during the search.

According to an official statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the raid was conducted at the residence and auxiliary premises of S.L., 51, following an order issued by the Basic Criminal Court of Skopje. During this action, police seized the narcotic substance and a digital scale containing traces of marijuana.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that besides the main suspect, his son B.L., 19, was also detained. After the completion of the investigation and full documentation of the case, criminal charges will be filed against them in an expedited procedure, based on Article 215 of the Criminal Code.

Koçan police have arrested a young man from the village of Gradec in Vinica after he caused a traffic accident on the regional road Gërdovc – Zërnovc. The incident occurred on July 23, 2026, around 3:30 a.m., when D.N., 24, lost control of his Opel car with Vinica license plates and veered off the road.

From the crash, passenger S.S., 28, from the village of Jakimovë, suffered severe bodily injuries. Also, injuries were sustained by the driver himself and the other passenger D.A., 28, from the village of Istibanjë. All injuries were confirmed by doctors at the ISHP Koçan.

During the inspection conducted by the investigative team of NjPB Koçan, it was discovered that the young man had never held a driver’s license. Subsequent tests showed he was under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol level of 1.69 per mille.

On the order of the public prosecutor, D.N. was immediately detained, and upon completion of the investigation, formal charges will be brought against him, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
