Kosovo Police found military clothing and equipment hidden inside a sewer manhole during a routine patrol on Zoran Đinđić Street in Mitrovica.

Speaking to “Bota sot,” former investigator Agim Rexhepi said the discovery should not be treated merely as a routine police report. According to him, the fact that military uniforms and equipment were found hidden in a manhole in North Mitrovica demands serious attention from the institutions responsible for security.

He stressed that no premature conclusions should be drawn about who may have placed the equipment there or the purpose for which it was intended, as these matters must be clarified through an investigation.

However, Rexhepi emphasized that such equipment does not end up hidden in sewer manholes by accident. If similar equipment has previously been discovered in this area, he said, this constitutes a warning sign that institutions must examine much more thoroughly.

He said attention should not be focused solely on what the police found. According to Rexhepi, the investigation must determine who procured the equipment, where it came from, when it was placed there, who had access to it and why it was hidden.

The former investigator also called for checks to determine whether the equipment had been used previously, whether it had been used in any illegal activity and whether it was linked to other cases recorded in the past.

According to Rexhepi, the case should not be viewed as an isolated incident. He called for it to be compared with all previous similar cases, for possible links to be examined and for a complete picture of the situation to be established so that security institutions remain one step ahead of developments rather than behind them.

He said information gathering, intelligence analysis and surveillance of sensitive areas should be strengthened. He also called for closer cooperation among the police, other security institutions, the prosecution and international partners.

Rexhepi called for the investigation to be conducted professionally, without causing panic or stigmatizing any community. According to him, institutions must take a firm stance against any unlawful act while also acting with precision and professionalism, focusing on those responsible, possible networks and concrete facts.

If the investigation shows that the equipment was abandoned and has no connection to criminal activity, Rexhepi said that conclusion should be made public. Conversely, if links to organized activities, preparations for illegal acts or threats to public safety are uncovered, institutions must respond without delay and enforce the full force of the law.

In conclusion, the former investigator called for the case neither to be downplayed nor used for speculation, but to be investigated thoroughly. He stressed that security is measured not only by how quickly the police discover such equipment, but also by the ability of institutions to determine who placed it there, why it was hidden and whether a broader network is behind it.

According to Rexhepi, the case should serve as a wake-up call for greater coordination, preventive intelligence and institutional professionalism. He added that citizens have the right to feel safe and to expect every possible sign of danger to be taken seriously. The equipment has now been found, and it is the institutions’ duty to provide answers, Rexhepi told “Bota sot.”

Kosovo Police discovered military clothing and equipment hidden inside a sewer manhole during a routine patrol on Zoran Gjingjiq Street in Mitrovica.

Former investigator Agim Rexhepi told “Bota sot” that security institutions should pay particular attention to the discovery. According to him, the finding of military uniforms and equipment cannot simply be treated as a routine police report, as the fact that they were hidden in a manhole in North Mitrovica warrants serious scrutiny.

Rexhepi said he did not want to draw premature conclusions about who may have placed the equipment there or their intentions, as these are matters for the investigation to clarify. However, he stressed that such equipment does not end up hidden in sewer manholes by chance and that, if this is not the first similar case in the area, the institutions are facing a warning sign that must be analyzed much more thoroughly.

According to him, investigators should not limit themselves to asking what the police discovered. They must determine who obtained the equipment, where it came from, when it was placed there, who had access to it and why it was hidden. They must also establish whether it had been used previously, whether it had been involved in any illegal activity and whether it is linked to cases recorded in the past.

Rexhepi called for the incident not to be viewed in isolation. He said it should be compared with all previous cases of this nature, possible links should be examined and a complete picture of the situation should be established. According to him, security institutions must stay ahead of developments rather than lag behind them.

To this end, the former investigator called for stronger information gathering and intelligence analysis, increased checks in sensitive areas and greater cooperation among the police, other security institutions, the prosecution and international partners.

He also stressed that the investigation must be conducted professionally, without causing panic or stigmatizing any community. According to him, the institutions must respond forcefully to any unlawful act while also acting with precision by investigating those responsible, possible networks and the concrete facts.

If the investigation concludes that the equipment was abandoned and is not linked to criminal activity, this should be made clear, Rexhepi said. Conversely, if links to organized activity, preparations for illegal activities or threats to public security are established, the institutions must intervene immediately by enforcing the law.

In conclusion, Rexhepi called for the case neither to be downplayed nor used for speculation, but to be investigated fully. He said security is measured not only by how quickly the police find the equipment, but also by the institutions’ ability to determine as quickly as possible who placed it there, why they did so and whether a broader network is behind it.

According to him, the discovery should serve as a wake-up call for greater coordination, stronger preventive intelligence and higher institutional professionalism. Rexhepi told “Bota sot” that citizens have the right to feel safe and to expect every possible sign of danger to be taken seriously, adding that now that the equipment has been found, the institutions have a duty to find the answers.

A number of military clothing and equipment items were found by Kosovo Police in a manhole along “Zoran Gjingjiq” Street in North Mitrovica. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine their origin and how they ended up in that location.

The discovery was made on August 7, around 1:30 p.m., during a routine patrol by members of the North Mitrovica Police Station.

During the check, police officers came across an open manhole. Inside they noticed a black plastic bag, whose presence aroused suspicion and led to a more detailed verification.

After retrieving the bag, police found that it contained five military caps, two chest rigs with ammunition pouches, a military belt, magazine and radio pouches, two military ammunition bags, and a pair of gloves.

In its statement, Kosovo Police announced that the black plastic bag was noticed during the manhole inspection, which raised the officers’ suspicions, and after pulling it out, the military clothing and equipment were found.

Security experts say the case should be seen in relation to similar cases previously recorded in this area. According to them, institutions must determine whether these are isolated incidents or part of a broader pattern.

The investigation, according to experts, should include the origin of the equipment, the manner of concealment, and the persons who may be linked to them. They call for inter-institutional cooperation and an approach aimed at prevention, while warning that no premature or political conclusions should be drawn before the investigation is closed.

Racaj: The investigation must be conducted seriously and without causing panic

Prof. Dr. Muhamet Racaj, a retired Major General, told “Bota sot” that the discovery on “Zoran Gjingjiq” Street should be treated with special attention by security institutions. He assessed that, since similar equipment has been found earlier in North Mitrovica, the case should not automatically be considered an isolated incident.

Racaj said that hiding military equipment in a public space shows that the responsible persons may have had the opportunity, motive, and a plan to keep it beyond institutional control. However, he stressed that the location alone is not enough to determine the purpose of its use or to prove whether it was intended for any illegal activity.

According to him, the answer must be provided by a professional investigation, which should analyze the equipment, forensic traces, their origin, and possible links to specific persons or groups.

The expert called for the case to be examined also in the context of hybrid threats and organized crime. He assessed that the equipment could have served as logistical reserve for certain structures, but did not rule out the possibility that they are leftover materials from previous activities.

Racaj underlined that any political or speculative assessment must be avoided until the investigation is concluded. On the operational level, he proposed the full inventorying and expert examination of the equipment, determination of origin, production time, and the channel through which they entered the territory, as well as analysis of forensic traces and data that could lead to the responsible persons.

He also requested that all previous similar cases in North Mitrovica be examined, in order to understand whether a recurring pattern exists.

According to Racaj, the institutional response should not be limited merely to confiscating equipment after discovery. Institutions must also work to identify in advance networks that may be involved in securing, transporting, and hiding such equipment.

He called for strengthening police intelligence and inter-institutional cooperation, especially in areas where there are indications of illegal possession of weapons or military equipment.

Racaj described the case as a signal that requires heightened attention, but not panic. According to him, protecting public security demands professional investigation, precise intelligence, territory control, and inter-institutional coordination. Any illegally hidden military equipment, he said, must be considered potentially part of a wider chain, until the investigation proves otherwise.

Elezi: The case should be linked to previous findings in the north

Security expert Bedri Elezi told “Bota sot” that the equipment found in Mitrovica should not be treated as an ordinary police find. According to him, the case requires an in-depth risk assessment and a full investigation of the circumstances.

Elezi stressed that the recurrence of similar cases in the same area increases the importance of this discovery. For this reason, institutions must determine not only what was found, but also who placed the equipment, when they were hidden, for what purpose, and whether any network or structure stands behind them.

He warned that it cannot automatically be said that the equipment was used for criminal activity or that it was part of a specific plan. At the same time, according to him, such a possibility should not be ruled out without a professional investigation. The clothing, tactical gear, and military materials could be remnants of a past activity, tools intended for future use, or abandoned materials.

The expert assessed that forensic examination and determination of the equipment’s origin will be decisive for clarifying the case. Even the manner of concealment, according to him, must be analyzed, since a sewer manhole can be used for temporary storage, hiding, and avoiding detection.

Elezi proposed that initially the manufacturer, model, identification numbers, distinctive marks, and supply channels for each piece of equipment be determined. Likewise, it should be verified whether they were ever part of any military or police structure.

The second step, according to him, should be forensic examination, including, where possible, analysis of biological traces, DNA, fingerprints, and any other evidence that could lead to the persons who used or hid the equipment.

Elezi requested that the current case be examined together with all previous findings of similar equipment in the north. He proposed creating a map that includes the cases, locations, type of equipment, and manner of concealment, as only a joint analysis can show whether there is a recurring pattern.

He also assessed that Kosovo Police should cooperate closely with other security institutions and international partners, especially for information exchange and identification of the equipment’s origin.

The expert called for a shift from a reactive approach to a preventive one. If such cases continue to appear in the same area, institutions should carry out a special risk analysis, systematically collect information, and identify persons or structures that may be linked to them.

According to Elezi, it is not enough to know only what was found, since in terms of security what may remain undiscovered is also important. He stressed that the investigation must determine whether it is about abandoned and isolated equipment or an indicator of more organized activity.

Elezi concluded that, if similar cases recur, they should no longer be treated as random incidents, but as security indicators requiring special analysis and coordinated institutional response. He called for every finding of hidden military equipment in the north of Kosovo to be treated with maximum seriousness, without panic, politicization, or prejudice, but also without underestimation.

A routine Kosovo Police patrol on Zoran Gjingjiq Street in Mitrovica discovered uniforms and concealed military equipment inside a sewer pit. The discovery prompted an immediate response from former investigator Agim Rexhepi, who stressed in an interview with “Bota sot” that the case should not be treated as an ordinary police incident.

Rexhepi said the discovery in northern Mitrovica was a development warranting close attention from the security authorities. According to him, the presence of uniforms and military equipment hidden in a manhole was no coincidence and signaled the need for an urgent analysis.

Avoiding any prejudgment, the former investigator added that only the investigative process could determine who had stored the materials and what was planned for them. However, he raised a series of critical questions that must be answered: “The question should not only be what the police found, but who obtained this equipment, where it came from, when it was placed there, who had access to it, and for what purpose it was hidden.” He also insisted on the need to establish whether the equipment had previously been used or had any links to past illegal activities.

Furthermore, Rexhepi argued that the case should not be viewed in isolation. He called for a comparative analysis of all previous similar incidents to identify possible links and build a complete picture of the situation. “The security institutions must be one step ahead, not behind events,” he said, stressing the need to strengthen intelligence gathering, monitoring of sensitive areas, and cooperation among institutions and with international partners.

Rexhepi went on to warn against panic and the stigmatization of any community, while calling for a firm and professional approach to any illegal activity. He emphasized that the investigation should focus on the individuals responsible, networks, and concrete facts. If the equipment proves to have simply been abandoned, the investigation should clarify that. But if links emerge to organized activities or preparations for actions that endanger public safety, the institutions must respond immediately and with the full force of the law.

Concluding his message, Rexhepi urged that the case not be underestimated. He stressed that public safety is also measured by how quickly institutions determine the origin, ownership, and purpose of such equipment, as well as whether it is part of a wider network. “The equipment has been found. Now it is the institutions’ task to find the answers,” he concluded, describing the case as a wake-up call for greater coordination, preventive intelligence, and institutional professionalism so that every warning sign is treated with the seriousness it deserves.

During a routine patrol on “Zoran Gjingjiq” street in North Mitrovica, the Kosovo Police discovered a quantity of military clothing and equipment hidden inside a sewer manhole.

The incident was identified around 13:30, when officers of the Police Station in North Mitrovica, while performing their duties, noticed that the manhole was open. Further inspection led to the discovery of a black plastic bag, which raised suspicions.

After retrieving and examining its contents, police found that it contained five green military caps, two chest rigs with ammo pouches, a military belt, magazine pouches, and other military-use equipment.

The state prosecutor was informed, who instructed that criminal proceedings not be initiated at this time.

The equipment was seized by police, and investigative work continues to clarify the circumstances and identify persons possibly linked to the case.

Security expert Drizan Shala, in a statement for “Bota sot”, says that the discovery should not be seen as an isolated event.

Shala emphasizes that before investigations conclude, no definitive conclusions can be drawn, but the manner of hiding the equipment raises some important questions.

“The finding of military clothing and equipment in a sewer manhole in North Mitrovica should not simply be considered an isolated incident. Given the history of tensions in this area, external influences, and the activity of illegal hybrid structures, such a case should be seen as an indicator requiring heightened attention from security institutions.

No final assessments can be made before the investigations close, but the presence of military-grade equipment in a public space brings serious questions: who placed them there, when was the hiding done, and what was the purpose? The possibility cannot be ruled out that they were used or prepared for illegal activities, including destabilizing acts, especially considering previous security incidents in the north and attacks on Kosovo’s institutions,” Shala states.

According to the expert, the fact that the equipment was placed in a part of public infrastructure shows an intention to keep them out of sight of authorities and citizens.

“A sewer manhole is not an ordinary place for storing equipment. The choice of this location indicates an attempt to hide them and raises suspicions that someone wanted to keep them invisible for a certain period,” he assesses.

Shala says the case should prompt increased monitoring, improved information exchange, and strengthening of preventive capacities.

“The Kosovo Police must conduct a thorough investigation to determine the origin of the equipment and verify possible links to individuals or organized groups. Also, the investigation should be expanded to see if there are other similar caches where uniforms or other equipment may be hidden.

This case should serve as a signal for strengthening oversight, intelligence cooperation, and preventive measures. In the north of Kosovo, any military-grade equipment outside institutional control should be treated as a national security issue, not just a police matter,” adds the security expert.

He further warns that such events can affect how citizens of the north perceive security. For this reason, Shala considers institutional transparency and a thorough investigation essential to prevent speculation and to preserve public trust in security institutions.

Kosovo Police have found military equipment and clothing hidden in a sewer manhole on “Zoran Gjingjiq” Street in North Mitrovica. The competent authorities have launched an investigation to determine their origin and how they ended up there.

The discovery was made on August 7, at around 1:30 p.m., when officers from the North Mitrovica Police Station were carrying out a routine patrol.

The police officers noticed that a sewer manhole was open. During a search inside it, they came across a black plastic bag that aroused their suspicions.

After the bag was removed from the manhole, it was found to contain five military caps, two tactical vests with ammunition pouches, a military belt, magazine and radio-communication pouches, two military ammunition bags and a pair of gloves.

In its statement, Kosovo Police said that the black bag had been spotted during the inspection of the manhole and that, after it was removed, military clothing and equipment were found inside.

Given that similar cases have previously been recorded in the area, security experts say institutions should verify whether this involves isolated incidents or a broader phenomenon.

According to them, the investigation should establish the source of the equipment, how it was hidden and the individuals who may be connected to it. They are calling for a preventive approach and cooperation among institutions, but warn that hasty or political conclusions should not be drawn before the investigation is completed.

Racaj: Serious treatment is needed, but not panic

Prof. Dr. Muhamet Racaj, a retired Major General, told “Bota sot” that security institutions should attach particular importance to the case and not automatically regard it as an isolated incident.

Racaj said the discovery of military equipment and clothing in a manhole on “Zoran Gjingjiq” Street should be examined seriously, especially because similar equipment had previously been found in the same area.

From a security perspective, he said, placing such materials in a public space indicates that someone had the opportunity, motive and plan to keep them outside the control of the institutions. However, the location where they were discovered alone is not enough to determine how they were intended to be used or whether they had been prepared for any illegal activity.

He said these uncertainties could be clarified only through a professional investigation, which should include an analysis of the equipment, forensic traces and its origin, as well as verification of any possible links to specific individuals or groups.

Racaj called for the incident to be analyzed within the broader security framework, including organized crime and hybrid threats. At the same time, he stressed that institutions should not reach conclusions before the investigation is completed.

According to him, the hidden materials may have served as a logistical reserve for certain structures, but it is also possible that they are remnants of previous activities. For this reason, any political or speculative interpretation should be avoided until the investigative process is complete.

Operationally, Racaj listed several concrete steps that Kosovo Police should take in coordination with other security institutions. First, he said, the confiscated materials need to be fully inventoried and examined by experts.

The origin of the equipment, its production period and the channel through which it entered the territory should then be determined. In addition, forensic traces and data that could help identify those responsible should be examined.

As a fourth step, he proposed analyzing all similar cases previously recorded in North Mitrovica in order to establish whether there is a recurring pattern.

Racaj said the work of the institutions should not be limited solely to responding after equipment is found. According to him, the aim should also be to detect at an early stage any potential networks involved in obtaining, transporting and hiding it.

He called for stronger police intelligence and inter-institutional coordination, particularly in areas where there are signs of illegal possession of weapons or military equipment. According to Racaj, the objective should not remain merely the confiscation of materials after their discovery, but the prior identification of the structures that may supply, transport and hide them.

Concluding his statement to “Bota sot,” Racaj described the case as a signal requiring greater vigilance, but not panic. He said public safety is best protected through professional investigations, accurate intelligence, territorial control and cooperation among institutions.

According to him, any military equipment hidden illegally should be considered a possible part of a larger chain until the investigation proves otherwise.

Elezi: The discovery should not be viewed as an isolated case

Security expert Bedri Elezi also told “Bota sot” that the incident should not be reduced to an ordinary discovery by Kosovo Police. He called for a full investigation into the circumstances and a detailed risk assessment.

Elezi said that hiding military equipment and clothing in a manhole on “Zoran Gjingjiq” Street cannot simply be treated as an isolated incident. The fact that materials of this kind had previously been found in the area, he said, adds weight to the case.

When the same phenomenon is repeated within the same geographical area, he said, institutions should not limit themselves to asking what was found. Investigators must determine who placed the equipment there, when it was hidden, what its purpose was and whether a network or structure lies behind it.

According to Elezi, there is no evidence-based basis for saying that the materials were used in criminal activities or were part of a specific plan. Nevertheless, such a possibility should not be ruled out before a professional investigation is conducted.

He explained that the clothing, tactical equipment and military materials could be remnants of past activity, items prepared for future use or materials that had been left behind. For a distinction to be made between these possibilities, forensic examination and determination of their origin are crucial.

Elezi called on investigators to carefully analyze how the equipment was hidden, since the location where it was found could itself provide important information about the circumstances.

If the materials were deliberately hidden rather than abandoned by chance, then the way they were placed constitutes an important investigative element. He noted that a sewer manhole could be used to conceal items, store them temporarily and avoid detection.

According to him, this circumstance does not in itself prove the existence of a criminal intent, but it should be taken seriously. For this reason, Elezi proposed that institutions examine the case on several levels.

During the first phase, the exact origin of each item should be identified, documenting the manufacturer, model, identifying numbers, distinctive markings and supply routes. It should also be verified whether any of the items had been part of a police or military structure.

During the second phase, according to Elezi, a forensic examination should be conducted and, where possible, biological traces, DNA, fingerprints and any other evidence that could lead to the individuals who used the equipment or placed it in the manhole should be analyzed.

As a third step, he called for the latest discovery to be compared with all previous cases involving similar equipment in the north. According to him, each incident should not be investigated separately; instead, a consolidated overview should be prepared of the cases, locations, types of materials and concealment methods.

Elezi argued that only such an interconnected analysis can show whether this is a recurring pattern. As a fourth step, he called for close cooperation between Kosovo Police, other security institutions and international partners, particularly in the exchange of data and efforts to establish the origin of the equipment.

He added that institutions should pay attention to preventing similar cases and identifying any structure that may be connected to them.

According to Elezi, the institutional approach should move from responding after an incident to taking preventive action. If such cases are repeatedly recorded in an area, a special risk analysis should be conducted, intelligence information should be collected systematically and the individuals or structures potentially involved should be identified.

From the perspective of national security, he stressed that what matters is not only what has been discovered, but also what may continue to remain hidden. For this reason, it would be a mistake to consider the case closed merely because the equipment has been confiscated and the Police have issued a statement.

Elezi said the investigation must answer the central question: whether these are isolated and abandoned materials or a sign of more organized activity.

If such cases continue to recur, he said, they should no longer be viewed as a series of random incidents, but as a security indicator requiring a dedicated analysis and a coordinated institutional response.

Concluding his comments to “Bota sot,” Elezi said every discovery of hidden military equipment in northern Kosovo should be treated with the utmost seriousness, without panic, politicization, prejudice or underestimation. He stressed that preventive security begins when institutions manage to understand the signals before they turn into incidents.

The Kosovo Police announced that during a routine check on “Zoran Gjingjiq” street in the northern part of Mitrovica, clothing and military equipment were found hidden in a manhole of the sewer.

According to the official report, officers of the North Mitrovica Police Station were carrying out their daily duties around 1:30 p.m. when they noticed an open manhole. Inspection of the area led to the discovery of a black plastic bag that aroused suspicion.

After retrieving and inspecting it, the blue uniforms found several military items inside: five green caps, two tactical vests with ammunition pockets, a military belt, as well as bags for carrying magazines and other military accessories.

The state prosecutor was also informed about the incident, who recommended that no criminal proceedings be initiated at this time.

All items were seized, while investigations are deepening to shed light on the circumstances and to identify persons who may be involved.

Security specialist Drizan Shala, in a statement to “Bota sot”, stressed that this should not be seen merely as an isolated episode.

According to him, although no conclusions can be drawn at this stage until the investigations are closed, the case raises big questions.

“The discovery of military uniforms and equipment hidden in a sewer manhole in North Mitrovica cannot be treated as an isolated event. In a territory with a history of tensions, foreign influences, and dynamics of illegal hybrid groups, such a case is an indicator that requires greater attention from security agencies,” Shala declared.

“At this step we cannot draw conclusions before investigations are completed, but the secret storage of materials of a military nature in a public space raises serious questions: who placed them there, at what moment, and for what purpose? It is possible that these equipment were used or were intended for illegal acts, including destabilizing actions, especially considering previous security incidents in the north and attacks against Kosovo institutions,” he added.

The expert draws attention to the fact that placing the equipment in public infrastructure indicates it had to be kept away from the eyes of authorities and residents.

“Hiding the equipment in a sewer manhole does not constitute normal storage practice. This reveals elements of secrecy and suggests that someone tried to keep them invisible for a while,” Shala assessed.

He emphasizes that this case should be an alarm signal for strengthening surveillance, intelligence cooperation, and preventive capabilities.

“The Kosovo Police must conduct in-depth investigations to determine the origin of the equipment, possible links with individuals or structured groups, and extend searches to see if there are other similar deposits where uniforms and other equipment may be hidden,” he affirmed.

“This case should be seen as a warning for intensifying monitoring, data exchange, and preventive capacities. In northern Kosovo, any element of a military nature outside institutional control should be treated as a matter of national security, not simply as a police problem,” added the security expert.

Shala warned that such episodes could affect the perception of security among citizens of the north, therefore institutional transparency and a thorough investigation are essential to avoid speculation and to maintain public trust in security agencies.

During a routine patrol on “Zoran Gjingjiq” Street in North Mitrovica, the Kosovo Police found military equipment and clothing hidden inside a sewer manhole.

According to an official statement, at around 1:30 p.m., officers from the North Mitrovica Police Station were carrying out their regular duties when they noticed an open manhole. After inspecting the area, the police found a black plastic bag, which appeared suspicious to them.

The bag was removed and examined, revealing several items of military clothing and equipment inside. These included five green military caps, two chest rigs with spaces for ammunition, a military belt, pouches for carrying magazines, and other equipment intended for military use.

The state prosecutor was informed of the discovery. At his direction, no criminal proceedings will be initiated at this stage.

All of the equipment found was seized, while investigations are under way to clarify the circumstances and determine whether any individuals were involved in the case.

Security expert Drizan Shala told “Bota sot” that the incident should not be considered merely an isolated case.

He called for no conclusions to be drawn before the investigation is completed, but stressed that the manner in which the equipment was hidden and the location where it was found raise serious questions.

According to Shala, the discovery of military equipment and clothing hidden in a sewer manhole is particularly significant because it occurred in North Mitrovica, an area that has experienced tensions, outside influence and activities by illegal hybrid structures. For this reason, he considers the case a signal requiring greater attention from the institutions responsible for security.

The expert said that, until the investigation is completed, no final conclusions can yet be reached. Nevertheless, the concealment of military-grade items in a public space raises questions about who placed them there, when they were left there and what their purpose was.

Shala does not rule out the possibility that the equipment was intended for or used in unlawful activities, including destabilizing actions. He links this concern to previous security incidents in the north and attacks against Kosovo institutions.

According to him, the fact that the items were secretly placed inside public infrastructure could indicate that someone had attempted to keep them out of the sight of citizens and authorities.

He said that a sewer manhole is not a typical place to store equipment. Choosing such a location contains an element of concealment and raises suspicions that the equipment was intended to remain hidden for a certain period of time.

According to the security expert, the case should be treated as a warning to increase monitoring, improve the exchange of information and strengthen preventive capabilities.

Shala called on the Kosovo Police to conduct a full investigation to establish the origin of the equipment and verify whether it may be linked to individuals or organized groups. He said the investigation should also include searches for other similar storage sites where uniforms or other equipment may have been hidden.

He added that, in northern Kosovo, any military-type equipment found outside institutional control should be treated as a national security problem and not merely as a police matter.

Shala also warned that such events could affect how citizens in the north perceive security. To prevent speculation and maintain public trust in security institutions, he considers a full investigation and transparency from the institutions essential.

President of the United States, Donald Trump, has not ruled out the possibility of a ground military intervention in Iran, as tensions between the two countries continue to rise, although he has avoided giving full details.

During an interview on Fox News, he expressed reservations about such an involvement but emphasized that, if necessary, “others would take over the ground operation in our country,” without specifying which actors he was referring to. CNN analysts have suggested that possible strategic targets could be Kharg Island, the main hub for Iranian oil exports, or the southern coastal areas facing the Persian Gulf. However, specialists warn that any landing on Iranian soil, regardless of whether led by American troops or allied forces, would constitute a military operation of extremely high complexity and risk.

The challenges of an amphibious assault are significant: favorable support is required from both the terrain and the sea, while defenders can easily concentrate resistance at potential penetration points. Additionally, logistical ships transporting critical supplies—ammunition, food, water, and medical aid—would be easily targetable targets. According to U.S. Army Captain Daniel S. Hogestyn, in a piece he wrote for Military Review magazine, the development of modern military technologies has shifted the balance of power in coastal areas significantly in favor of defensive forces.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Defense has confirmed the presence in the region of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), which includes more than 2,000 troops deployed on the ships of the USS Boxer Amphibious Readiness Group. This structure is prepared for amphibious missions, surprise raids, evacuations, and rapid combat operations, integrating ground, air, and special forces units.

Furthermore, the U.S. Army maintains on alert the Immediate Response Force of the 82nd Airborne Division, capable of being activated within hours for tasks such as securing ports or airports of critical strategic importance.
